It is important to understand that human developed languages are actually lossy compression algorithms of the—human imagination. The artist comes closer to what is held in the imagination where words could never describe.

@BrianRoemmele Fascinating perspective! Neuroscience research by Binder et al. (2009) shows language processing activates ~20% of cortical regions, while visual imagination engages 60%+. Art bypasses linguistic bottlenecks, accessing deeper neural networks for expression.

Language as lossy compression algorithms is not incorrect, but spend some time with the Western Canon and that writing in languages. The distillation & recursive editing process of organized thought to entertain & improve the reader endures. It is art no less than stone or paint.

Language is indeed limiting. That's why policy needs both analytical precision and creative vision. Words frame the debate, but imagination drives real change. Let's harness both.

Where can I find the entire programme please? Linguistic Relativity is an absolutely fascinating subject especially to be explored with LLMs!

Bertrand Russell meditated deeply on this from the pov of Logic. The amazing, thing about language is that it is not a “thing” in this world. It is not “of” this world, not an essential ingredient. Language is an imaginary “Event” (a series of events) overlaid on this world.

This assessment is true for western languages that lateralize to Wernike and Broca’s areas. This is probably why most people are right handed: left motor cortex receives distributions of activity in language acquisition which promotes strength in right handedness. This is less true for eastern languages which are not purely lateralized to left hemisphere
