Why does the world ignore the rights of the Kurdish people? Why are policies imposed on the Kurdish people, while their most basic rights are overlooked? How long will the Kurdish people be denied a simple right — to see their leaders standing in international forums with the flag of Kurdistan behind them? Why are Kurdish leaders forced to stand before flags that do not represent them or the aspirations of their people? Why is the Kurdish people expected to respect the flag of a government that seeks their destruction? Is it not the right of a nation of 60 to 70 million people to have its flag and identity recognized?

Those two things can sit in the same sentence. Those tears mean she was loved and she knows it. Money does not cancel that. Fame does not cancel that. A last name does not cancel that. She is heading to the University of Miami to play golf and start a life. She will excel. She has drive like her grandfather in more ways than one. A President Kai is not crazy to imagine. That is later. Right now she is doing the ordinary hard thing: saying goodbye to a family that made her feel special. She will look back at this and feel a little silly.
