The boomers don't want anyone to fight. Stop this disgusting ageist posturing. There may be many reasons to review state pension provisions, but this should be much more cautiously explored and argued with balance, not hysteria.

Posting this today while hopefully some you are still with your nans for the bank holiday and can explain it to them. We can replace the triple lock with a double lock, increasing pensions by the higher of inflation or wage growth. Pensioners will still more than keep pace with working people. They are currently racing ahead of them, their earnings increasing faster than those of working people. The 2.5% floor is arbitrary, invented by the Lib Dems in the same manifesto that promised to scrap tuition fees, then adopted by the Tories as a bribe to pensioner voters. The reality is that we can’t target investment and support if arbitrary amount of public money is distributed to all people of pension age regardless of need (and yes, contribution). It has no logic… it will keep boosting pensions faster than the rest of the economy indefinitely, with no ceiling. I am a socialist but the triple lock is just a bribe to dependable voters.

Free university, affordable housing, the NICE economic years, and now the triple lock on pensions. They are, in aggregate, the single most selfish generation ever. I can’t afford to own my own house, I have massive university debts, I live in a time of high youth unemployment and stagnant economic growth, and Robert Jenrick now has the temerity to suggest I want to pay more in tax to fund gold plaited pensions for the richest generation ever. I know exactly how Reform came to the decision to keep the triple lock. Farage is actually instinctively against it but he’s seen the polling that shows getting rid of the triple lock would lead to a flood of voters going to the Tories or Labour. I hope Restore Britain actually have the guts to level with people and say we can’t afford to maintain the triple lock and instead commit to some combination of raising the retirement age, capping the rate of increase, introducing a degree of means testing, and actually in the long term getting the government out of the pensions business and shifting that responsibility onto employers and employees.

Out on the ramp with the A350 today, taking a close look at the nose landing gear safety pin setup. There are 3 holes visible on the mechanism, all different diameters. Only one is the right size and spot where the full safety/ground lock pin inserts completely to lock the gear solid. The others are for pivots and such, so the pin won't seat fully. And importantly, no covers on any of them.... That's by design, keeps everything easy to inspect, access, and work with during maintenance.. One wrong hole and things can go sideways (seen it on other types like the 787 before mods). Always double-check by eye and feel for that solid engagement.
