For today's maintenance reel: a little moment with the Boeing 777-300ER and the mighty GE90. Biggest commercial engine out there and yes, you actually need a platform truck just to reach the oil tank. Once you're up there, it's honestly just another engine servicing, nothing dramatic. No sight glass to help you out and it takes its sweet time sipping oil, but you eventually get it done. And that smoke in the video? That's just the mix of body heat meeting Canadian cold. For today's maintenance reel, we are looking at a B737 NG fixed landing light lamp replacement. It is a straightforward job most days, but once the temperature drops below zero it turns into one of those tasks that really remind you winter is coming. Even then, I will take these classic lamps over the newer LED setups. You might swap bulbs a little more often, but when an LED array or its power supply decides to quit, the whole repair becomes a real pain in the rear. Filming with the meta glasses always adds a fun angle to the work. I just wish they came with a true timelapse mode, because some of these tasks would look great sped up from start to finish. I got a smart meter recently and saw you can download a HDF file with the data so I had the idea of writing a script that could parse that and show the data in a useful manner. However I discovered that someone has already done this and done a really good job on it. The video explains how it works. In simple terms it uses the ESB smart meter data and shows a breakdown of how much data you are using and when and also recommends plans and estimates what each one would cost based on the data. The tool is available at easier to read on Laptop or Tablet or then your phone to Landscape.

You go and rent a room as part of a retreat, everything is good until at night sometimes you think you are being watched, it’s an uneasy feeling you can’t get over, so you look out your window and you see a man, from the distance and perspective he looks like he’s almost 8ft fall, could be the snow creating the illusion. What makes it so creepy is how incredibly still he is, just standing there, no movement at all. You feel terrified, you call the police and just sit there and stare until they arrive and address it.
