I’m drunk and crying about Mike wheeler never accepting his queer identity

real asf

when i first watched the finale that was the first time in years i felt genuinely disgusted at myself for being out and queer, it seriously made me debate going back in the closet again for days and only yesterday did i realize that was so stupid

@lovesmiwis so sorry you felt that way. i hate how this show has made people feel when it was supposed to be for people like us all along 💗

A 2024 survey by The Trevor Project found that 39% of LGBTQ+ young people (ages 13-24) seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year, and more than 1 in 10 (12%) had attempted suicide. So YES it is this fucking serious to me, cause how dare you make a mockery of us.

why must we hide who we are when everyone else is celebrated for it?

i was so excited dude

Stop my dyslexic ass thought you said “is it really that serious?”

at first i thought this said “is it really that fucking serious” and was scared someone pulled you to the dark side of stranger things 😀💔

no 😭😭😭

It has and always will be that fucking serious, this was a massive betrayal and it enrages me how badly they did us, like it physically hurts me as a queer person

on the plus side as someone who's been a mike wheeler; he's just 18 and i choose to believe he will find and accept himself trust!!

agreed!

you cannot put this kind of responsibility onto a fucking TV show, it’s deeply unhealthy. Art does not exist as a moral force to validate you, and expecting that from it is unreasonable and childish

these comments just show the homophobia we get in this fandom and now we're being called even more delusional for shipping them

FUCK I JUST DID MY MAKEUP I HATE YOU

SORRY DIVA

as a queer person that is currently in the closet, ive always hated myself for being this way, & i've projected my anger to friends & family, leaving me with no one. its just me and my mom right now, and i thought that if a mainstream show could depict a good queer relationship-

hey oomf! i’m so sorry to hear that and that you feel this way. i know the show going this direction was extremely disheartening, it really broke my heart too bc it reminds you what kind of world we live in. queer people can have good things though, and there is so much beauty in queer identity that isn’t reflected in the media and narratives that our world prioritizes. but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist!! i hope you are able to come out when the time is right and when it’s safe for you. please dm me if you want to talk! 🫶🏻

this just hurt me so deeply fuck

it's heartbreaking that even in current times, people like paul reubens felt like they had to come out posthumously. this is why good examples of representation where queer characters can live long, happy, fulfilling lives, are vitally important. they absolutely dropped the ball-

I seriously don’t get, Will was gay because Noah is gay, Mike is straight because Finn is straight. I get you want queer representation but Mike was never gay and no matter what you say it can’t change that. Noah has said “Mike wasn’t the Endgame, Acceptance was” Duffers said “Bylers were just noise but they ignored the noise and stuck with the plan” Caleb even made fun of Bylers People sometimes a curtain pattern is just a curtain pattern Sometimes a street sign is just a street sign. Queer as Folk is out there The L word is out there Heartstoppers Young Royals Sense8

I thought Mike had internalized homophobia because of the way he behaved, and that made me feel identified with him, because I know what it feels like to live under so much pressure to be “just straight” and not follow my real feelings...

oh byler, rovickie, and all queer ships… you will always be the most important to me

Waaa waaa waaa you didn’t get to break up a straight relationship just to make a straight character gay in the last season when he’s been straight and dating this girl for the past 4 seasons

this genuinely made me tear up. i am so lucky that i have a community that accepts me, but my home is still susceptible to hatecrime & there are times i genuinely feel scared to be myself. this show could have changed so much, instead it made a mockery out of my friends

Don't forget it's a crime in a half of world

this just stabbed me in the heart i’m gonna be sick

It’s indeed serious. So what? 🥹

Trying to make it about LGBTQ when it’s just a ship you so fake real

And they're even more miserable when they do "come out" realizing that giving into sin and making it part of "who they are" and making their whole lives run around a sexual perversion is unfulfilling.

Its not that serious gng

SPEAK ON IT

What gives yall the idea that Mike was EVER queer? Him being nice to Will through a traumatic experience? Like wtf is wrong with yall trying to force a sexuality on a fictional child who was literally written to be head over heels in love with a girl. Yall are braindead af.

And Will came out and they accepted him, you can't force Mike to be gay when he isn't 🤦♂️

I actually can’t this is so devastating

100% of queer fanatics will never be satisfied, and so Hollywood should stop trying. Victimhood is currency among too many queers, so yes, many will offer stats of being victims. This is the BEST time and place to be gay, and all too many do is complain.

where is the quote at the beginning from?

idk tbh

I wish people were this nuanced about it. I was against the idea for so long because people sexualized these literal kids and those voices ended up being the loudest. When I mean sexualize, people legit wanted sex scenes and made porn, not people wanting a beautiful queer story.
