Black Americans are the ones that have a hard time grasping it. Yes we are different ethnically, but the same racially. A Nigerian and a Kenyan are different ethnically but racially they’re still black.

The funniest thing is Africans & Caribbeans don’t even care they always claim their nationality I’ve never heard a Jamaican say I’m African American I’ve never heard a Nigerian say they’re African American when introducing themselves they always make it known where they came from

Everyone understands if a bunch of Black Americans moved to a Caribbean island like panama or Jamaica We don’t become Panamanian or Jamaican just because we live there.. You can’t immigrate into someone else’s bloodline But that common sense goes out of the window when they come to America with dark skin, immigrants actually pick and choose when to identify as Black American when it benefits them

Black people that find success through the acceptance or permission of white supremacy get amnesia; And forget they are the exception, not the rule. Just because you made it does not mean every Black person can navigate the same oppressive systems that have taken from us for generations. What Pharrell Williams said sounds like someone who does not recognize the privilege he carries and the fact that everyone does not have that same story. And nobody is saying they’re are trying to be Pharrell. Some of us are simply trying to get our small Black owned businesses off the ground. So when you tell people not to support Black owned businesses just because they’re black, you harm those smaller businesses first. And you’re doing white supremacy’s job for them. Please stop. 🛑
