@ComicDaveSmith One limiting principle is the level of spending. Tariffs in isolation are different than replacing printing or other forms of taxes. I am curious what would the limiting principle would be if you tried to replace every tax with tariffs? Seems like it would be impossible

How can it be part of the problem when you realize that we’ve been playing against a stacked deck with respect to tariffs the entire post-war period? Even trumps reciprocal tariffs do not match the tariffs on American goods entering foreign economies. If you want “free trade” a level playing field should be the starting point.

Libertarians have a globalist framing here They are correct, it is a perversion of good economics But without that perversion, American labor is fee too expensive to ever compete It will have to be “brought down” Or else we have to do UBI, the wage gap simply cannot continue at this rate The funny thing is, under libertarian ideas here they are supporting socialism by purchasing items from their subsidized system

@ComicDaveSmith But yet no one has been able to defend or explain why other countries are allowed to tariff the us and that’s ok. Do we see the issue with this thinking here? And people are looking short term at this when it’s a long game with more in play than simply imposing tariffs
