Ronnie is using the product that everyone else has used for decades.. they all swapped to something that reduces the errors. He prefers the old one that could cause errors? What’s the issue It’s not performance enhancing He’s the greatest to grace the sport. Why question him?

Neil Robertson is spot on. There's absolutely no reason for any player to still be using the old chalk, other than stubbornness.

Triangle chalk is about £5 a box of 12. If we want to make snooker unnecessarily expensive then yes ban it for the £50 a piece substitute. Triangle chalks been used for about a 100 years. Leave it alone.

I'd rather watch Ronnie (and his chalk) than any other player, so there's that.

Having watched the video twice, your answer to this is 'controversy' is really unclear.

Ronnie staying true to the classics Old school Triangle > modern chalk. That’s why he’s The Rocket!

Taom V10 reduces kicks, but it increases miscues. That's why Ronnie doesn't use it. I gave up the Taom V10 for the same reason. Middle ground is Ding chalk, which is also made by Taom, leaves almost no residue like V10, but more powdery than vV10 and doesn't cause miscues

I still use Master chalk! Never get kicks if you cue it well

What have you lot got against O'Sullivan? I remember years ago when he started playing frames left handed, the likes of Clive Everton losing his rag about it. Try providing decent coverage without switching channels and woke lectures instead of killing the sport.

I'm a huge Ronnie fan, but there is no logical reason to use the old chalk still. It's not fair if it causes other players to have bad contacts, run out of position or miss pots either, through no fault of their own. Ronnie at some point may have to do the right thing.

How many of these players pushing the Taom chalk have a financial internest / sponsorship deal with them?

It'd be pretty funny if Ronnie started using the new chalk and started another legendary run, cleaning up all the competition.

Critics are Toam or sponsored by them. Way overpriced, my cheap chalk work just as well.. Nobody has missed a shot because of chalk residue anyway. I've missed shots due to no grip but some cheap chalks have just as much grip as toam.. maybe more.

Totally with you, mate, it's been a bit of a mess. Seems the new chalk gives extra bite and leaves a lot of residue, so shots play differently and players worry about fairness while others say it's just gear improving - what would you do, ban it or let it ride?

Profilbild von Simon

If the best to ever play endorses the use of a particular type of chalk, maybe people should respect there’s likely a reason for that….
