if you pick not competitive keyword, you will get installs immediately you can become top-3 in days/weeks more competitive keywords will take months/years obviously

Did ASO for years across an app matrix. Then Apple 4.3 removed the whole catalog in one week and every keyword went to zero. I still do ASO, I just stopped letting the business depend on it.

I don’t think ASO works for new apps unless you can flood the App Store with 1,000 reviews. If you’re launching a new app with zero budget, ASO is basically dead.
