Next time, go for it. Laying up is for 18 handicap golfers. Not the best in the world. That's like being a 6'8 NBA player scared to dunk a basketball.

Feel for the kid and hope this doesn't define his career. Hindsight is wonderful but I genuinely believe he shoud have gone for it, worst case if he hit in the water was a 6 with every chance of a 5 & playoff. Regardless wish him well.

Not quite on a par with Carnoustie....but you are needing a 4 to win... laying up is a shot of a coward....Jack hitting a 1 iron over the water at 15 at Augusta....thats how you win tournaments my friend..

Opportunities to win are few & far between for most golf pros. As a result, when in contention to win an event, so many adopt a cautious mindset of trying not to lose the tournament rather than the mindset of going all out to win it. That is their downfall. #RiskReward #Wentworth

You know, I was by no means kind of free and clear and was nowhere kind of close to having the job done, but I was right in position. Jon Rahm hit a flyer on the 7th hole today and then took a swing in frustration at the grass and ended up hitting a volunteer with his divot. After the round he was incredibly apologetic and fully owned up to his poor etiquette: “Thanks for reminding me of that. I got a flier on my second shot that went long. It's not a good spot. Just out of frustration, I tried to make an air swing, just over the grass, and I wasn't looking, took a divot, and unfortunately, I hit a volunteer. “Yeah, it hit him, and unfortunately it hit him in the shoulder and then the face. Which I couldn't feel any worse. That's why I was there apologizing. I think last week gave me a lot of confidence that I can mix it with the best guys. Just wanted to really carry that into this week the best I could. I think I got out of my own way the first two rounds and I started thinking about it yesterday. Yeah, it was just good to play like that today when I was being pushed by two of the best players in the world. JERRY: I remember vividly following you when you won your first event on the PGA TOUR in Bermuda. On that final hole, you were visibly nervous on your second shot. You looked like you were immune to nerves all week long. How does that come about? HERBERT: I think it was a bit of a trick in hiding it. I was definitely feeling it out there. I can only do what I can do. I was able to take care of what I needed to do today pretty well to get me over the line. I knew it wasn't going to be a day where even par, 1-under was going to get it done for me. I knew I had to go out there and get it. Just kept pushing myself the whole way, and here we are JERRY: Did you ever hit some shots, notably the bunker shot in addition to so many others this week, where you just shook your head, like, I can't believe how good this is going? Rory McIlroy says the way he beat his first-tee nerves was to picture the ball in the trees and walk the worst case all the way to its end. "I say this all the time. It's counterintuitive to a lot of people to do this, but I do. If you're trying to overcome anxiety or nerves or on performance, I do try to think about, well, what's the worst that could happen?" After opening rounds of 67 and 68, Justin Thomas has shot his lowest 36 hole total of the season to be T3 at the Truist Championship. After the round, he said this is the best he’s felt since his return from injury: “Yeah, it's definitely, I would say so. I mean, I played really well last week, I just putted horrifically. "I thought I was still behind (on 17), I thought Zander was still on 19 (under) - I wasn't really looking at boards, to be honest. "It was a long way for me, I had a five wood in the bag, it was 276 and I needed to hit a little draw on there to get the distance. It just came out as good as I could, it ended up great - three, four feet away - and yeah, it was one of the best shots I've hit. "It's been a tough ride. A lot of injuries, a lot of hard things that I've gone through but to get back in the winner's circle is... quite unexpected today, to be honest. "I thought I was one behind playing the last but then got on to the 18th green and had a quick look at the board and was quite surprised. "They were hard times, I didn't think I was going to get through a lot of them. Three wrist ops, a disc replacement, hip surgery, I've been through it all so I'm pretty happy. "One of the main goals was to win with my children actually seeing it - the oldest is 13 soon, it's been pretty much that long so it's nice to eventually let them see me win. "And then I suppose just to prove to myself that I can still compete at this age, after all I've been through. I've had a lot of injuries, I've probably been out six or seven years with injuries. An emotion post round interview with Paul Casey, he reflects on his round "There was so much (to enjoy), maybe saving some of them pars coming in late, but birdie on 18 though, that was the highlight of the day with the great Swiss crowd. I love this place, I really do, so it's a wonderful day," "I'm 49 now, so I'm not sure how good everything is. There's ailments, for sure. Yes, there was a wrist problem earlier in the year, but I bounced back from that and actually play some really good golf when we went to New York a few weeks after, but I wasn't sure, I mean, thought that could have been the season. It's tough in the moment to take it no matter. But I would rather know that I did something wrong and be penalized for it than -- I'd like to know. It's unfortunate, but I think everybody should be held accountable for the same rules. “The issue with that to me is the fact that he's on TV every shot.
