It's why I will probably never watch the seasons after that. Like, I may have some issues with the "last" few seasons, but I really liked how this one ended and made a perfect loop to the pilot. I think it's better that way.

Honestly this and Bender's Big Score were the only real standouts from this era.

It is true, but when this episode originally aired they followed it up with Space Pilot 3000. It is heavily implied that he conceived the idea of the button on New Years Eve 2999.

And honestly, with how behind he is on his ideas, I believe it would take him nearly a decade to finally create something like this.

It was literally the perfect end, the revival doesn't count

Just because the channel played the first episode again does not mean it was plans to be a loop.
