So Law 12.1 “Holds an Opponent” isn’t a thing then. The Boro defender has two hands around Hirst. Very sloppy from him.

It’s a soft penalty, the thing is why pull him back and it is a slight pull, it gives the ref a decision to make, you know the ref in the championship are appalling and given them a chance and they will make questionable decisions, it’s poor decision making from our point of view

#NCFC fan here: it’s a pen. Defenders surely know that if you put your hands on a player in the box you’re giving them the opportunity go down and win a penalty: everybody does it, Mr. #Hirst included. Remedy: keep your hands off them. The defender cost #Middlesborough 2 points.

Did he get it wrong? Or do all the other referees bottle these decisions? Perhaps Gillett had the perfect opportunity to show football where he stands without VAR intervening. We all know the wrestling from corners should result in at least 1 penalty.. never given 🤷🏼‍♂️
