Think about the way they used to do it even eighty years ago a hundred years ago, we've come so far, it's so amazing

This is a Chinese company called: GongMei Techology 工美科技 specializing in railway track maintenance and inspection robots. Here's another impressive example: the robot is able to detect cracks as small as 0.2 millimeters on the rails, fully unmanned automatic inspections, and it's the modern safeguard for the 180,000+ km of railway track across China. A great showcase of high-tech in daily life. 😄

Lol. Unions in the American railroad industry will fight this like the plague.

I like it. I want to put googly eyes on it and give it a name.

This is the result of $30/hr minimum wage. Pocahontas and Sanders will put every entry level worker out of a job. When I was that age, I had no illusions that I “deserved a living wage” for flipping burgers. I knew I’d have to move up the food chain to raise a family and buy a home. Here’s minimum wage adjusted for cost of living (inflation). Yup $8.30/hr.

@LibOrNormal They still have to monitor the machine and every so many check the torque. It just makes a guys job easier. I bet it isn’t accurate at all and they constantly have to recheck torque specs.

@gotrice2024 😳 All Jobs… History. Gen Z better be asking grandparents for 10 acres so they can provide food for themselves.

I can't imagine the little robot would operate very long before the battery dies.

This is what you get when people demand $30/hr. for unskilled work.

It should unscrew the fitting and add a lock washer.

Looks to me like they have just removed the wooden ties and replaced them. That gizmo may be checking gauge, but is also tightening the bolts that hold the rail in place. Also interesting to watch them change the rails out as well

How much does the employer pay into social security? It should, if it displaced workers.
