I lost my grandparents the night of the 4th of July. They both passed away peacefully in their sleep. They were the biggest OU fans you ever saw. Grandpa went to a ton of the 47-win game streak games. They had season tickets throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Grandpa took me to my first OU game when I was 8 years old. We played BOOMER SOONER at the funeral and it was one of the best things I’ve ever seen. Win or lose, this season is gonna be different. My first football season without them gonna be tough. BOOMER

Samaritan's Purse is grateful for these student-athletes and the energy they brought to the job site. I will never ever ask what’s wrong of offer help if I wasn’t actually going to help. I see accidents on the highway almost daily, especially in the winter, if I am going to stop I always call the police first so I know help is on the way for them and for me if things go south. A woman was in an accident and she’s going car to car begging for help. She thought these people were going to help her and jumped in there. At only for them to boot her out. What would you do though, would you let her in the car? To me it could be a setup or they could have serious injuries would t want anything to happen. I wouldn’t let them in the car. People will criticize because they aren’t in this position or it hasn’t happened to them. I say unless I am equipped to help, I won’t. But I will always call for help. I feel that’s the best thing we can do in most of these cases and if anyone else has anything to say about it they don’t know what they are talking about.

Our friend John the policeman is a huge LSU and Saints fan, he has become a fast friend of the shop and last week he said, “I have a special box I want to bring in and just rip with you guys at the card bar. I probably shouldn’t open it but I want to in the shop…” it was 2020 Panini America Prizm Football. "It took me a while to figure it out, but after about 4 or 5 years, I started to realize that this thing was more mental than it was physical." He didn't figure it out alone. "Those first 5 years, I had great conversations with a lot of great players. Pete Rose, Willie Stargell, Henry Aaron, Mike Schmidt. I had a chance to sit down and talk to 'em - pick their brain, find out how they do what they do." The greats learn from the greats. They never stop learning. They never stop wanting to get better. "After about 4 years, I started to realize that this is more mental than physical. So what I need to do is get an approach that I think will work and then just trust the approach. Trust what you practice on. Trust it." That's the key. Create the plan then work the plan. And when it's not working, you still trust yourself. "During the winter, I can hit in a cage and be mechanically sound. But the first time I hit live in spring training, I'll be lucky if I get a ball out of the cage."
