It's always the same old tired arguments from those in support of trail hunting . The truth is it was always a smokescreen for illegal fox hunting to continue – they even admitted it themselves . A ban can't come quick enough !

A lot of focus is on fox hunting but this ban has to include hunting with dogs more broadly, including deer/stag hunting. The loopholes have to be closed.

Spot on. 'Trail hunting' is a transparent lie, a bit of posh theatre designed to let the same people keep breaking the law. As an 11-year-old in Carmarthenshire, I watched men forcing Jack Russells into a badger sett near my home. I couldn’t understand the point of the cruelty even then. Sixty years later, the same sort of Barbour jacket clad 'gentlemen' are still making excuses for it. A ban is decades overdue.

@SomersetBirder Tim once personally invited me to the North Yorks Moors to see for myself how much the area is great for Hen Harriers, and how much joy he apparently gets when seeing them whilst out hunting... I declined. It's what's going on behind closed doors that matters..

If trail hunts had been responsible they would have set trails using candyfloss or peppermint scents, not fake fox urine. By using fox scents they were still training their hounds to hunt foxes, not follow a trail. It's absolutely been used as a smokescreen to keep fox hunting!

I hope you also support the call to ban non stun slaughter of animals for Halal and Kosher food.
