LOVER BOYS introduces us to both the perpetrators and the victims of this branch of sex-trafficking. The film outlines the tactics used by pimps to lure young and often vulnerable women into prostitution, featuring Ibrahim Wijbenga - a Dutch-Moroccan social worker tackling this taboo problem within his community. Here Ibrahim interviews a former Lover Boy who explains how he would use false promises of love to win the trust of girls who he would then trick into working as prostitutes. The victims, some as young as 12, were kept in this abusive situation through a combination of affection, violence and threats against their families - placing them in a state of fear and compliance. Many are introduced to drugs in order to create an addiction cycle, which is even harder to escape as they become physically dependent.

Here Ibrahim sheds light on why some young Moroccan men resort to exploiting women for income. For many, it's a last option after struggling to find legitimate work. In the Netherlands, where pimping is legal, they operate freely - unafraid of consequences from the justice system. Ibrahim wrote of the film afterwards: “Lover Boy is a term too lovely to convey the horror of their actions”.

#AndrewTate, before he became a household name, was very clear about his intentions with his webcam operation. He would use deception, coercion, emotional manipulation and violence to keep the girls on his payroll “obedient”. Some even claim he threatened their families. As his “business” grew, he was able to employ female accomplices to enforce these rules on others. If you’re still unconvinced, someone has very kindly put together a montage of @CobraTate admitting to his crimes. They’ve organised it into sections - ranging from bribing the police, to bragging about his mafia connections calling himself ‘untouchable’, to explaining why young girls are easier to groom into his webcam operation. He also admits to hiding evidence from the UK Police back when they first raided him around 2015 - causing him to flee the country.

Tate's victims, who absolutely DO exist (no matter how much he denies it) have spoken about his methods of entrapment and deceit, going into detail about the violence they were subjected to behind closed doors. Both the original prosecutor and a human trafficking expert featured on the recent NIGHTLINE x @ABC investigation into #AndrewTate confirmed that his methods clearly reach the legal standards for human trafficking. “For us, those that are familiar with human trafficking, all the elements in his modus operandi are clear human trafficking elements”.

What’s interesting about this is that Tommy Robinson has spoken out against these “Lover Boy” or “Grooming” methods for years, particularly in his #RapeofBritain documentary series for @ScoopUrban. He’s aware of these tactics, yet he doesn’t seem convinced that Tate could be guilty of similar crimes despite mountains of damning evidence. This blind-spot is astounding, he may as well be describing Tate in the clip below.

Here are some examples of Tommy confronting alleged grooming gangs as part of his #RapeofBritain documentary series. He would show these films at live events, inviting the victims to give speeches on the day and explaining that, because at least 3 victims have come forward with corroborating allegations, he feels confident showing the faces of the alleged perpetrators. Yet, as we’ve seen, there’s at least 4 victims alleging similar crimes against #Tate in the UK alone, and 7 in Romania.

Here, one of the women featured in the #RapeofBritain series outlines the methods used to groom her as a child, which are similar to those of #Tate's alleged victims. She says she was targeted on social media and given attention and gifts, claiming she wasn’t allowed to talk to the other girls in the house, and that if they were caught communicating - they would be beaten.
