This series defined my teens, my first real exposure to the Gundam franchise & everything good that came with it. Hearing this opening again really hits hard though things are so much different now and it shows like this that kicked open the doors for exposure to anime.
I guess it was everybody's first Gundam in the US

Ah, version 1. Wait till you see version 2...in about 16 episodes. A lot of the Western fandom rides or die by this show, for better or worse, and while it's not the masterpiece show our teenage minds thought it was, it's still hella fun. Perfect for healing after Victory.
