Horrific. 25-year-old Calvin Crew was sentenced to life in prison for taking the life of Uber driver Christina Spicuzza. Spicuzza’s fiancé unleashed during his impact statement when Crew refused to show up to his own sentencing. "No reason other than a coward. A coward who couldn’t be here today to face this... Christy was everything for my family. I was lost, out of control. She saw something in me." In the dashcam footage, Spicuzza could be heard begging for her life as Crew held the gun to her head. The footage ends when Crew notices the camera. The mother of four’s body was found two days later in the Pittsburgh area, with a gunshot wound to her head.

NEW: Chicago police are investigating a brutal attack on a 33-year-old mother and her 9-year-old son, who were jumped by a mob of children and teens. The family reports that the boy had been bullied for two years, and yesterday, as the mother was walking her children home from school, the group turned on her. “I can’t sleep. I wake up in the middle of the night with the vision of my son calling my name, begging for help — and I couldn’t do anything for him. That’s what hurts me the most,” the victim said. No arrests have been made so far, but the community is calling for the violent attackers to be expelled from the school and for their parents to be held accountable.

This is gut wrenching - a woman wearing a kurta with "halwa" written on it in Arabic was almost lynched in Ichra, because people there felt blasphemed. Kudos to ASI Sheherbano for saving her life. This country is becoming a nightmare thanks to the deliberate creation and use of religious fanatics. The Faizabad Dharna judgment by the supreme court should have been given due importance. Fascinating that the woman is apologizing, and not the people who were about to lynch her before the police stepped in.
