My goal in this budget process has always been to make sure we’re funding core, basic services in a balanced and disciplined manner. We know there is an inherent tension between asking people to pay rates, fees and taxes— and the issue of affordability. We want to make sure our city can provide the quality-of-life services that our residents deserve, but we also want to make sure we’re putting affordability first in our community. While I worry a lot about affordability, I also worry about the ability of our city to deliver quality services without more revenue. I strongly believe that if we're not making the kinds of investments we need to make in our people and our services, we will be managing decay in Austin in a very short period of time. This budget will not meet everyone’s concept of perfection. Truthfully, there are parts of the budget that I don’t like. That goes with living in a big, diverse city—different people will have different priorities, and we need to make room for all of us. Now, it is time for us to trust our voters. Voters have an opportunity in November to make a very important decision. From my perspective, the best part of this budget is that we fully fund our homeless strategy office. That was my greatest emphasis, and we've achieved it. It will make a world of difference in getting homeless people off the street in a very short period of time. I'm also very pleased with what we’ve added to funding for public safety, EMS, and wildfire prevention. A positive vote in the November tax rate election will allow us to pay for these needed services. And we make a significant investment in our parks. I look forward to a result that will be the best benefit of our community.

What a year it has been for us Sam Heughan! As we are heading towards the end of #MPC2023 and in honor of #GivingTuesday, we want to reflect on what a remarkable year it has been for all of the #Peaker community! Not only did our Peakers walk over 359,000,000 steps to the moon for the #MoonroStepChallenge in support of Blood Cancer UK but this year we partnered with Ocean Conservancy and collected 3,460.8 pounds/1,569.8 kilograms of trash from over 30 countries and 31 U.S. states while making better environmental changes in our daily lives. Together, we have raised a total of $515,161 bringing our total amount raised to date to a whopping: $7,430,896!!!!!! We couldn't have done this without our #Peakers supporting the incredible work of our charity partners. I just know that #MPC2024 is going to be OUR YEAR! Get ready, Peakers... you're in for a treat!

We have been working relentlessly to improve and perfect the product since the early part of 2024. I’m very proud of what we are producing today and I’m extremely excited for the future. I know we will never reach perfection but we won’t ever stop improving. If you have one of our footballs and have supported me early on this journey, I greatly appreciate you. If you haven’t tried them yet, I encourage you to give it a shot. I have a feeling you’ll really love them. We are now in a new phase of development for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We have done a lot to transition the Ukrainian Air Force to a new aviation standard – Western combat aviation. From the beginning of this war, we have been talking with our partners about the need to close the Ukrainian sky from Russian missiles and aircraft. We have held hundreds of meetings and negotiations to strengthen the capabilities of our aviation, air defense, and Defense Forces. We often heard the word "impossible" in response, but we made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now – it is a reality in our sky. F-16s in Ukraine. We ensured this. I am proud of all our guys who are skillfully mastering these aircraft and have already started using them for our country. I thank our team for this result. I thank all the partners who are truly helping with the F-16s, and the first countries that accepted our request for aircraft – Denmark, the Netherlands, the United States, – and all our partners, – we value your support. I wish our Air Force and all our warriors to feel the pride of Ukrainians in our combat aviation and to bring Ukraine the combat results that will bring our victory closer – our just peace for Ukraine.

Today, my meeting with the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, focused primarily on strengthening the energy and economic capacities of both our nations so that together we can do more for the national security of our states. We are working to expand cross-border energy cooperation – building two new power transmission lines with Romania. Equally important is our ability to pursue projects together in resource extraction on the Black Sea shelf. Today, we also discussed projects in the oil and gas sector that can support us now, including in light of the challenges related to the Middle East. We reviewed opportunities for transporting American LNG to Ukraine via Romania. We are also working to open new border crossing points – and this will be achieved already this summer. I thank Romania for its principled position throughout all these years of Russia’s full-scale war. Ukraine and Romania are natural strategic partners. The geography of our region, the security challenges we face, and the economic needs of our peoples all point to one conclusion: cooperation between us must only grow stronger.

A new office isn't a right. It's a privilege, and one we must earn every day. Today is our first day in Meow's new HQ in the heart of Soho. The internet isn't even up yet, so I'm typing this tethered to my phone. I'm proud of the early Meow team that graduated from dark rooms to a space of our own. We could have done this years ago but we waited until we crossed 8 figures in net revenue and until we knew our growth engine actually repeats. The entire team, since day 1, has never complained and has been on board with this ethos. Above all, we're grateful for our customers. None of this is possible without the customer. And we must earn the right to serve our customers every single day.

In civilian life, he is a historian and a school principal in Kyiv. ‼️Friends, please listen and share. "There is probably no one in the world who would like to see the war end and peace come as much as the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian military. But we don't dream of peace at any cost, because then these three years will be in vain. We are fighting here not only for our land. We are fighting not only for our families. We are fighting not only for our state. The most important thing for us is values. Values pushed us to fight the enemy. The values of freedom, the desire to live in our own country, the values of being human beings, not slaves. Every day and every minute of this war, we have felt the support of the world, the support of Europe, the support of the West. And we want to say that we are grateful. We know this, but we ask you not to turn your back on us now, because we will not give up our freedom for nothing. We want normal, fair and just conditions of peace. We are building a golf brand bootstrapped out of our spare bedroom as a family. 2024 has been an awesome year. We launched our first line of polos and at last count over 1,100 are in the wild. Played and photographed over 10 new to us courses throughout the Midwest + caught loops on camera at many longtime favorite tracks. Closing in on some major milestones across social media. We delivered a solid first half with robust commercial performance on the retail market in France, Europe and Middle East & Africa. Associated with improved operational efficiency, this allows us to achieve an EBITDAaL growth of 3.8% and to raise our EBITDAaL growth target for 2025. 📍 In France, we achieved a notable acceleration of 0.9% EBITDAaL and our mobile network were ranked number one for the 14th time in a row. 📍The remarkable performance in Middle East & Africa, with a double-digit increase in EBITDAaL for the tenth consecutive half, was driven by access to our 4G and 5G networks, now used by more than half of our 167 million customers, as well as by the development of Orange Money and B2B. 📍 In Europe, volume momentum and value strategy lead to retail services revenue growth +1.2% and EBITDAaL up +2.2%. 📍 In Orange Business, we are on track with the plan and have achieved very solid growth for Orange Cyberdefense with a 7% revenue increase. We delivered a solid first half with robust commercial performance on the retail market in France, Europe and Middle East & Africa. END OF AN ERA 🎥 This week we say farewell to our legendary ABC Campus on the Upper West Side. It’s been the home of Eyewitness News since 1979, a building as much of an institution as our news brand itself. Broadcast legends have graced these hallowed halls for the last 6 decades, only adding to its unique and very important history. Over the last 8+ years, I’ve been the most fortunate to share the stage with some of the best in the business. It’s been the most fun I’ve had in my career. My colleagues and I have been lucky enough to create thousands of hours of television here, making memories that will last a lifetime. Now? Well, we do what we do best. Adapt. Adjust. Acclimate. We’ll do so in our new home downtown, a state-of-the-art facility that will house us and all of our fellow NYC-based shows on ABC. It’s a new chapter. A new beginning. It's also the time of year when people donate to charity and we wonder if any of our friends will remember the work that Ernestos does for the animals in war torn Syria? We have just had one of our worst months for fundraising, with the lowest donations we have seen for a long time. A little gift from our supporters means everything to our animals and to the lives of the 100s of animals we treat and help every day of the year. We want to continue to be there for them. To help as we have helped for the past 9 years. But first, we must make it through the winter months. Will you help us? We need fuel, we need food,we need medicines. But most of all, we need your kindness and your belief in what we do.
