The joke isn’t about religion but rather the unfair and often astronomical expectations parents have for their kids which puts unnecessary pressure on them at a very young age. People are fighting over nothing

bingo :) the comedy comes from the extreme comparison.

She describes every Asian parent. I don't see what's the insult. Obviously, someone can edit the clip to make it sound like she said something insulting.

I see nothing offensive or insulting here. Commentary is on unrealistic parental expectations. If you have been to a Sinhalese Buddhist boy school between years 9 and 13, you would have heard much worse.

Something important to remember is that this event was held on April 1 st. It was edited and shared by some parties on 26 May widely. A bit like the Dalai Lama episode just when Jerome is in trouble.

Omg! I can’t believe #SriLanka was making a fuss over this! 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ This isn’t blasphemous AT ALL. Whoever cut and edited the short clip that caused this much uproar really achieved what he/she/they wanted. It’s actually a very mild joke at most. Did I laugh? Slightly. It was okay

What the hell. This was a very well executed joke. And I don’t see where the insult to Buddhism here is.
