It’s completely embarrassing that a team gets sent home by a play under 20 seconds remaining due to an officiating error. Unacceptable in a win or go home tournament. They reviewed 5 plays in the last two minutes but couldn’t look at this. Samford was ROBBED.

To add to this, Samford GRABBED THE REBOUND from this block. They would've been down 1 point with 16 seconds remaining and a chance to become a Cinderella story. The refs wiped that chance away.

Please! That was one play. I can remember a handful of bad calls that Samford got in their favor.

Literally a clown world. They spend 60 seconds looking at the clock for .2 seconds but won’t review a PIVOTAL block that clearly changed the game. Ridiculous

Fresno state (-1.5) down 5 points with 5 seconds ends up winning by 2 exactly in regulation. Yes you read that right. Look at the gamecast here…. they called a foul every 3 seconds in the final 2 minutes of play. There was over 30 combined points scored in the last 2 minutes.

This team was down by 7 runs in the last inning. They made a comeback and scored the winning run by this young man stealing home. 👏 This is why as a catcher, you never throw the ball back to the pitcher from your knees with runners on base. You always stand and take a look at the runner, ESPECIALLY with a runner on third and in this scenario, the game winning run. That’s poor coaching imho. It’s the little fundamentals that are coached in practice that add up to whether a team is prepared or not for the games. Where was the coach telling his catcher to keep an eye on the runner at third?

Absolutely no one needs to be defending this defense after tonight. It’s completely embarrassing that Jack Leiter has to eat 5 ER and a loss in that gem of a start. • The Burger misplay had a .250 xBA. Easy double play and inning ender. • The Smith misplay had a .180 xBA. Also would have ended the inning. This isn’t JV baseball. It’s the major leagues. The offense didn’t improve enough this season for the defense to go from best in the league to middle of the pack. Both plays HAVE to be made to keep this game at a two-run deficit.

They weren’t their traditional selves and look we’ve seen this happen a couple times where they find ways to win games down the stretch even though they haven’t been playing the style of basketball we saw them play in last series.
