It's cool Marathon now has prox chat and all, but it feels clear it was obviously an afterthought They still consistently call Marathon a PvP game. It doesn't seem like there are any incentives at all to team, and you can "betray" someone in microseconds because of it's faster... TTK ARC Raiders' entire world, lore, and game design is built around being social. The mix of PvPvE. You're all just humans trying to survive, not metal shells sent by corporations to fulfill tasks on Alien planets. The slower pace allows you to react to events. The PvE is completely different from the PvP, it's not just "more humanoids with guns". There's PvE ONLY equipment. You can revive strangers, etc. etc. They're clearly looking at what ARC Raiders succeeded at and now want a piece of that cake, but I'm not sure it'll hit the same. It just wasn't in their game's DNA from the start. I'm not sure what Marathon's DNA even is actually TL;DR: It's cool there's prox chat now, but seems forced. The game still seems confused on who exactly it's audience is, or what kind of experience it's trying to be Guess we'll find out in March 🤷‍♂️show more

Why do people freak out when PvE and ARC Raiders are mentioned together? Helldivers 2 is an extraction shooter at its core. You dive in, complete objectives, loot, and extract. It is fully PvE and sold millions. ARC Raiders was originally planned as PvE but the devs thought it was not fun, so they changed it. I don't know if they looked away when Helldivers 2 released or not because PvE can be fun. What I do not understand is why not have both for those who want it? I really like the game but I do not enjoy the PvP parts. Early playtesters said the AI used to be much smarter and harder in the PvE builds. Why not keep that as a separate mode instead of making the ARCs easier just to fit PvP balance?

It's good and al there's an bundle sale on PVE & Arena. However, just want to mention to people who is considering this bundle, that PVE is not so well treated. Even simple promo code for 1.0 release is not available for PVE such as current one, 'NIKITAONGMNPODCAST' or 'RELEASEISCOMING'. Whereas there was single code that worked on PVP & PVE 'TIKTOK1M' (which should still work). So they already have system for giving out promo code for both game mode but don't give them. I know people will say PVE easier, so no need for gear, no big deal... but why not give it if it's no big deal? it is also weird since they actively promote the game mode to sell it. Events were also PVP focused, which is understandable, but sometimes excluded PVE to have event for literal no reason (Pre-wipe events being excluded for PVE is understandable since they don't wipe). I know people will say 'Tarkov is PVP Game', but sad news to people, Tarkov is PVPVE Game. And if you exclude PVE part, the game will feel extremely empty. Whereas if you exclude PVP part, the game is still quite viable due to its in-depth of the game (we literally have PVE Game mode being sold). Literally the 1.0 release end content is PVE single player campaign in Terminal... My thoughts are that PVE definitely brought and will bring them a lot of new players and money, but Nikita or some part of the devs just don't want people to play PVE. I just wish they change their mind and at least embrace PVE players and not discriminate them. Just another thought is that needing to buy PVP game mode to be able to buy PVE Game mode is also weird. Or needing to purchase PVE Game mode even though you have PVP. I can somehow understand they put in some additional development into PVE and they have some servers for PVE to pay. It's been so fun reading the comments. Just because I want a PvE mode doesn't mean I'm bad at the game or that I don't enjoy it. Marathon PvP is the most fun I've had in a shooter in as long as I can remember. The speed and intensity of the fights remind me of what it felt like to first pick up Halo and run around in Battle Creek. Everything from the combat visuals to the individual shells and the audio, the lore, the map design, etc--all are just really excellent, and Bungie deserves the praise it's been getting from people who have actually given Marathon a chance.
