@dennisbhooper You’ve got cinematographer Douglas Slocombe to thank for that. He shot a load of the old Ealing Comedies in black and white back in the 1940s & 50s, films like the Lavender Hill Mob, etc. Dude was almost 70 when he shot this and brought every last drop of his magic with him.

If you told me this is a still from a 1930s movie I simply would’ve believed you

honestly the score is a vibe too it’s kinda analytical and detached, like it really recontextualizes the visuals as something to be scrutinized and studied and distances the viewer from the emotions of the scene. idk maybe i’m reading into it but it’s an interesting effect imo

It looks good but honestly the choice of a track is kinda stupid ngl

I think it looks awesome in black and white, but I might be alone in thinking that sounds terrible with that score. Would love to check this out but maybe not for me?

The Indiana Jones series was modeled after films in the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s so it’s not surprising these films work well in Black & White! Both Spielberg and Lucas love films from that era!

The black and white makes for some interesting visuals, but I can’t get over how this stock music soundtrack just doesn’t fit in the slightest
