Don’t fatigue yourself so much that you can’t be the source of your own happiness, source of joy. There are non negotiables in life, & responsibilities that are inevitable. You can’t allow those things to wear you down to the point where you depending on ALL outside factors to provide internal peace. Ultimately man will let you down. Whether it be significant others, friends, family, hell even your favorite football team. It’s not that you can’t count on people. It’s that you never want to be in a place that they’re your only sense of joy. God will provide what you need in many forms, and one of those forms is help mates, but we can’t allow things we can’t control to control us! Failure is a teacher. If you have success, you did it right, so there is probably nothing to learn. But if you have failure, there is something to learn. You have to make the most of your failures. Over time, I developed an instinctual reaction to failure. My instinct now is to view failure as a puzzle that will give me gems if I can solve it. The puzzle is simply this: What would I do differently in the future so as not to have that result? When you solve that puzzle, you write the lesson down. Parents learn how to get out of the way and stay out of the way when your kid is playing. It actually inhibits success when you are coaching or yelling instructions from the stands. Growth happens with failure… as uncomfortable as that makes us as a parent. Once we recognize this, we can be intentional about remaining silent when it comes to instructing, but verbal when it comes to positive encouragement. And encourage all players. It lets your kid know that everyone on their team is important and that you care about team successes. This is fundamental in creating a team concept in your child.
