It's difficult to know where to start unpicking this interview with Darlington Nurse, Bethany, on BBC Woman's Hour by Nuala McGovern. Bethany did extraordinarily well considering the persistent framing of her as a bigot.

@BBCWomansHour @BBCNuala Such a smooth segue from discussing one woman's obscene abuse at the hands of a hundred 'ordinary men', to robustly challenging another woman for being inconsiderate to her would-be voyeur. Can you really not see it @BBCNuala ?

@BBCWomansHour @BBCNuala Bethany was brilliant. Her honesty and directness made the presenter sound something of a fool at times.

@BBCWomansHour @BBCNuala Bethany's responses struck me as a masterful articulation of liberal pluralist responses. From 'I don't need to answer that' when quizzed about her private beliefs to the formula of equal rights for all, this was someone who knew her stuff...

@BBCWomansHour @BBCNuala So insulting! “If the person dressed more traditionally as a female, would that make a difference?” A man is a man. A man in a dress is a man. A man with long hair is a man. A man in makeup is a man! Why does the interviewer elevate male happiness over female rights?
