Petrochem people know this. Oil is profitable and sustainable around $75.00-$80.00 a barrel. Lower than that and it hurts the production and extraction side, higher than that it hurts the consumer side. Refiners buy their supply of crude literally for future delivery, months if not years, in advance.

And even if there’s a “recover” prices of everything else won’t go back to the old prices since companies want to keep overpriced stuff

I grew up in West Texas and experienced the 70’s OPEC Crisis, which BOOMED the Texas oil economy, and then the BUST in the 80’s when OPEC lowered prices. A huge percentage of our town left. Gone. Houston was even worse. Tract housing neighborhoods were ghost towns.
