Dune II (Westwood Studios) was released in 1992, and it cannot be overstated how much this game impacted, changed, and popularized RTS games. It felt like the floodgates opened after it paved the way for an entire genre. Yes, there were others before it, but in terms of depth, playability, graphics, cutscenes, three different (and playable) factions, and digitized speech, it was unbelievably awesome. I can only name a handful of games that captured me the way Dune II did - it was a rare gem. Controlling units individually feels tedious from today’s perspective, but it never bothered me back then. I guess you can’t miss what you don’t expect. Instead, I was totally hooked - not just on the game's concept, but also on how it was presented. For 1992, the graphics (for a strategy game) were impressive, the cutscenes had that Cinemaware quality, and the music and digitized speech added to the "I am right in the middle of this" vibe. Of course, I started with Atreides, but over time I - and probably you too - switched to the "dark side" and played Harkonnen and Ordos. The Harkonnen Devastator (epic name) was so badass. I know that Dune 2000 was released years later but I never felt it was a worthy sequel. A real Dune III would be a dream come true...

Perry averaged 20.5 yards per catch last year and had 4 touchdowns on 12 receptions. Full answer: "I feel like, I mean, just from the coaching standpoint, they felt like just in practice, I wasn't making enough plays. But just when I got my opportunity to go in the game, I made sure I made those plays. So it was kind of confusing for me. I just wanted to play in that offense. DC [Derek Carr] was just throwing the ball around, and I just wanted to be a part of that. Unfortunately, I wasn't. So I was on active the whole time, but, yeah, I wasn't -- I was active, but I was inactive each week just because they said it was my hand, but it was kind of a shock that I was released, just for them to bring another O-lineman in. Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness (Blizzard, 1995) was such a badass game back in the day. Sure, from today's perspective it looks outdated, the graphics a bit clunky, the rendered cutscenes will at best get a "pass", but for anyone who plated RTS games in the 90s, Warcraft 2 was among the best. There was a time when Blizzard just rolled out incredible games: Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft, and then World of Warcraft - all four of those had such a massive impact on the gaming culture. It all started with "Warcraft: Orcs & Humans", but I chose the sequel for this post, since I believe this was their real break through game. Hard to believe for modern gamers... but Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness was once peak gaming! Within the period from 1993 to 1999, Warcraft II was the 6th best selling game among all that were released during that time.

I say this every year, but the all-star game really used to be appointment TV, and 1993 was my favorite. I know this type of intensity is never coming back. Not asking for it. Just wanted to show people what it looked like when the 24 best players in the world actually competed.

I just wish they had the respect to tell me exactly what it was, and I would have understood and respected that… Some of the guys have already reached out from the Celtics, some of the young guys, so I appreciate them… The guys I was able to build with, those guys who reached out to me, all told me, ‘It was a pleasure to play with you, and I appreciate everything that you helped me with,’ so that’s the stuff that gives you more motivation to keep going.”

And, lot of it had to do with where the team was at, and never wanting to take moments in a season for granted, just thinking like, ‘Oh, we’ll be good next year.’ It's like, I've been in the league a long time, I've been fortunate to be on a lot of really good teams. And you never want to take for granted opportunity to be on the team that's contending for a championship. I had never had basketball taken away from me, so I always — I never took the game for granted, but as you can imagine, how much I missed playing basketball. It was interesting that the thing ended up being as close to the story of 1984, because I didn't plan it that way. It just seemed to be close to the natural course of events. I had a script that no one was interested in giving me any money for, So I wrote 'Time Bandits' with Michael [Palin], and after the success of that, people said, "Well, now you can really do all sorts of things." They were saying I ought to do something like a follow-up, that it would work well to do another romp. And I figured it was time to do the one that no one would give me any money for." My English teacher in high school was worried about what my career would be, and I'm like. He would be happy to know that I'm in the Writers Guild of America now. "But, I think that that all those things are, they're all... you can transcend all those things with perseverance and with interest and with with help. And I think that that's an important part of it. "And I just think I've had to adapt, and sort of... I have my own style of the way I write, I write all, you know, but I'm pretty prolific. It wasn't like I was coming from way back or anything, like I was right there and shot 5 under and lost, or got beat rather. “So yeah, not a burden in the traditional sense. Today was a different situation than I've ever been in. You know, it was our goal today to come out and see how many I could win by if I stuck to our plan. About halfway through the round my brain just said let's make some pars. So I was trying to aim at stuff and I honestly just, I think the mind is powerful and it was just taking me towards the middle of greens. I would like to have hit some better shots, but got it done and happy to have done it.” Cam led the field in strokes gained putting at the Wyndham Championship and when you match that with his already elite ball striking, he will give himself a lot of chances to rack up another win. He’ll be hoping that will come this week at the FedEx St Jude Championship as he attempts to have another strong showing in the playoffs to earn his way onto the US Ryder Cup side at Bethpage in September.
