You can’t believe that it was captured on film It’s not for the faint of heart and it’s almost abit distasteful but viewed through the correct lens I think alot can be learned. It doesn’t paint any particular group out to be good or bad it just “is” the footage of what they captured at the time I’m giving a second warning to the actual documentary film there are some horrific scenes but as they trailer says: “You may hate it, or you may love it but you will never forget Africa Addio”

Eric Rohmer on the use of Colour in "La Collectionneuse" (1967) and "Claire's Knee" (1970): "I didn't use color as a dramatic element, as some filmmakers have done. For me it's something inherent in the film as a whole. I think that in 'La Collectionneuse' (1967) color above all heightens the sense of reality and increases the immediacy of the settings. In this film color acts in an indirect way; it's not direct and there aren't any color effects, as there are for example in Bergman's most recent film, his second one in color, where the color is very deliberately worked out and he gets his effects mainly by the way he uses red. I've never tried for dramatic effects of this kind, but. for example, the sense of time-evening, morning, and so on-can be rendered in a much more precise way through color. Color can also give a stronger sense of warmth, of heat, for when the film is in black-and-white you get less of a feeling of the different moments of the day, and there is less of what you might call a tactile impression about it. In 'Claire's Knee' (1970), I think it works in the same way: the presence of the lake and the mountains is stronger in color than in black-and-white. It's a film I couldn't imagine in black-and-white. The color green seems to me essential in that film, I couldn't imagine it without the green in it. And the blue too-the cold color as a whole. This film mould have no value for me in black-and-white. It's a very difficult thing to explain. It's more a feeling I have that can't be reasoned out logically." Insecurity. HERE ARE THE RED FLAGS TO HELP YOU IDENTIFY IMPERSONATORS, KIDNAPPERS, CRIMINALS, TERRORISTS ON MILITARY OR PARAMILITARY UNIFORMS WHEN DRIVING OR TRAVELING THROUGH THE HIGHWAYS IN NIGERIA. VISIBILITY AND STATIONED VEHICLES. When driving and you suddenly sight men in uniform and guns, either soldiers in Army camouflage, police, or paramilitary uniforms standing on the express in an isolated area, slow down from afar and scan the area for proper visibility. If the road is a two lane express, ensure both sides of the road where the uniform men are standing are not covered with bush. If the both sides of the road is covered with thick and over grown grass, please it is a red flag. Before soldiers, police, civil defence, immigration or customs set up checkpoints or road blocks in the middle of nowhere, they will properly clear the bushes on one side, or on both sides of the road where they intend to mount their road block. They will build makeshift shades or seats. They may build makeshift shelter and create a proper space for vehicles to park. At a certain distance, the road block will be very visible to you as a motorists. HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT. #DISCLOSUREDAY is Steven Spielberg’s 4th centered film and the first Spielberg film I’ve seen in theaters since Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. (I might never see a truly Great Spielberg picture in theaters) The Cast on paper is perfect, John Williams orchestrating the score while Spielberg directs the shit out of this film. David Koepp wrote the screenplay here and he is definitely the weakest part of this creation but it’s also on Spielberg because he should be able to see the faults here. The film leaves you wanting more and more and eventually it gives you what you want but takes it away just like that, it results in an underwhelming ending. The film is really well made, the framing and camera choices from Spielberg adds so much to what would be just simple scenes. Blunt, O’Connor, Domingo and Firth are all solid, at times the script lets them down but they do their best to salvage it. The Train sequence was great, but not a whole lot happens in the film other than that. I enjoyed the film for its intriguing storyline, the directing and especially Blunt’s performance but the ending was a big bummer. Definitely a good intriguing watch but I don’t think the film will have much rewatch value. Wanted to love it but just ended up liking it for about 90% of it. Did you see or plan on seeing Disclosure Day ? 👽🛸

"Humanity is hungry for truth and beauty. It's part of our nature. It was built into us by design and can never be entirely corrupted. This is one of the reasons I believe our culture will ultimately fail to condition all of us, or even most of us, to value the wrong things. Depriving a man of what he needs will only, in the end, increase his craving for it. "It's like putting a man out in the desert for long enough — of course he's going to become thirsty. "Our culture is a spiritual desert right now, but people are waking up. And that leaves them open and receptive to an alternative worldview — one that that values life, that offers objective moral values and duties, one that doesn't exult in sin and depravity but offers grace and forgiveness and healing and hope. "As the world turns back to God, we need to make sure they see Him."

* NEW FROM THE CHIRLA FILES * CHIRLA, the taxpayer-funded nonprofit that has been fomenting opposition to immigration enforcement in Los Angeles, owns a film production company that has produced a full-length feature. CHIRLA’s “beleaguered” Executive Director, Angelica Salas, is credited as the Executive Producer of the movie. Seems strange for a nonprofit, right? Pouring over its publicly available financial records, there appear to be a number of irregularities—though I do not have the expertise to form a definitive opinion about whether there was actual malfeasance. Here are the details. As background to CHIRLA’s film-making enterprise: In 2018, the organization produced a 20-minute short called “America, I Too,” which was shown at some film festivals. According to its website, this was “the second film in the series following the first short, ‘Know Your Rights’ created in 2007.” The video by that name that I found online is ten minutes long and has poor production values. CHIRLA incorporated its film company, called CHIRLA Liberty Film, LLC, in January 2019. It is entirely owned by the nonprofit, and its finances are consolidated in CHIRLA’s financial audits. The audit for the year ending June 30, 2019, lists film production costs in the amount of $242,413 and $28,764 from 2018, noting that they relate to the “various costs associated with the production of a film.” The audit, however, does not mention the existence of the film company. Strangely, CHIRLA’s Form 990 (the tax form filed by nonprofits with the IRS) for 2019 also does not reference either the company or the costs of film production. Every year beginning in 2019, CHIRLA’s audits state: “Upon completion of the film, the Organization will review its total revenue estimates from the film, which may result in a change in the rate of amortization and/or a write-down of the film production costs to fair value.” But confusingly, there are never any revenue estimates provided in any audit. The cost of the film production is simply listed as an asset each year. CHIRLA’s 2020 audit is the first to acknowledge the existence of the film company: “CHIRLA has teamed up with CHIRLA Liberty Films LLC to bring to life a dramatized film series about undocumented immigrants called Know Your Rights.” It’s a strange statement, given that the “Know Your Rights” video was produced in 2007. The 2020 audit lists $124,483 as an additional investment in the production of the unnamed film, and the Form 990 for that year lists a cumulative investment in film production of $366,896. Its financials for 2021 are essentially consistent, showing an additional $419,052 spent on the film, totaling $785,948. CHIRLA’s 2022 audit adds $151,658 in production costs, and the 2023 audit adds another $109,437, for a grand total of $1,047,043. Both audits state that the film still had not been completed as of June 30 of their respective years. But contradictorily, CHIRLA’s feature-length film—titled “America’s Family”—is listed on IMDb with a release date in 2022, and there are websites advertising showings in Los Angeles and Boston in June 2022—prior to June 30. Though CHIRLA’s Form 990s for 2020 and 2021 list a dollar value under “Investment in Liberty Film,” the Form 990s for 2022 and 2023 include no record of the investment in film production or acknowledgment of the wholly owned film company. After the initial showing of “America’s Family” in June 2022, the film had a number of additional showings in late 2023. In late 2024, CHIRLA presented the film for free or low cost at several local community centers in Mexico. It is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime. I know little about the film industry, but my suspicion is that the company may have spent more on these screenings than it earned in revenue. This brings me back to the auditor’s recurring statement: “Upon completion of the film, the Organization will review its total revenue estimates from the film, which may result in a change in the rate of amortization and/or a write-down of the film production costs to fair value.” Again, the audit does not include revenue estimates, so it is difficult to guess what this refers to. The $1 million spent on film production was considered an asset on financials. On what planet would this film break even? And what is the movie like? Judging from the trailer, it’s clichéd propaganda. It presents an idyllic life of a Spanish-speaking “American” family, suddenly torn apart by brutal ICE agents. You can judge its artistic merit for yourself. More important will be the judgment about the legality of CHIRLA’s financial filings.

A billionaire in L.A. is trying to build an aerial gondola over one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city so he can develop the parking lots at Dodger Stadium into a retail entertainment complex. Not only will one our most historic parks get consumed by the project, but research shows it won’t even reduce traffic or greenhouse gas emissions as it was initially sold to the public.
