**footage of hunting/death** This is the trailer to one of the best documentary films I’ve ever seen "Africa Addio" is a controversial Italian documentary from 1966, directed by two Italian guys (Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi) It shows the transition of Africa from colonial rule to independence and the total chaos that ensued in the process It’s just such unique, raw, violent footage. You can’t believe that it was captured on film It’s not for the faint of heart and it’s almost abit distasteful but viewed through the correct lens I think alot can be learned. It doesn’t paint any particular group out to be good or bad it just “is” the footage of what they captured at the time I’m giving a second warning to the actual documentary film there are some horrific scenes but as they trailer says: “You may hate it, or you may love it but you will never forget Africa Addio”

Eric Rohmer on the use of Colour in "La Collectionneuse" (1967) and "Claire's Knee" (1970): "I didn't use color as a dramatic element, as some filmmakers have done. For me it's something inherent in the film as a whole. I think that in 'La Collectionneuse' (1967) color above all heightens the sense of reality and increases the immediacy of the settings. In this film color acts in an indirect way; it's not direct and there aren't any color effects, as there are for example in Bergman's most recent film, his second one in color, where the color is very deliberately worked out and he gets his effects mainly by the way he uses red. I've never tried for dramatic effects of this kind, but. for example, the sense of time-evening, morning, and so on-can be rendered in a much more precise way through color. Color can also give a stronger sense of warmth, of heat, for when the film is in black-and-white you get less of a feeling of the different moments of the day, and there is less of what you might call a tactile impression about it. In 'Claire's Knee' (1970), I think it works in the same way: the presence of the lake and the mountains is stronger in color than in black-and-white. It's a film I couldn't imagine in black-and-white. The color green seems to me essential in that film, I couldn't imagine it without the green in it. And the blue too-the cold color as a whole. This film mould have no value for me in black-and-white. It's a very difficult thing to explain. It's more a feeling I have that can't be reasoned out logically." 🐧 ah! a lot of things have been coming out lately, right? 🐿️🐧 the concept photos came out yesterday, right? 🧸 that’s right 🐿️ hunger~ 🧸 this was personally my favorite concept photo 🦊 it was the same for me 🐧 it was my favorite too…although only 2 concepts are out so far 🦊 i can’t remember the other two too well 🐧 but this was my favorite out of all 4 of them 🧸 all the members looked really good 🐧 the outfits were unique and according to me…it was the least conceptual 🐰 something that everyone can universally enjoy 🐧 yes, something that everyone can enjoy 🐿️ moas were very curious about that…like “was this the challenging concept that the members were talking about? or not?” 🐧 no! shockingly, these were the least experimental ones 🧸 that’s right 🐧 aren’t you curious about what the other two will be like? 🐿️ the next one is coming out tonight, right? 🦊 yessir~ 🐰 it’s coming out at midnight again? 🦊🧸 please look forward to it a lot! 🐰 it’s coming out three days straight in a row, huh? 🐧 that’s good! 🐿️ i don’t know how they’ll be received 🧸 it feels like it’s actually starting now note: they later realized that nothing’s coming out tonight and the reason their calendar said it was today is because yesterday’s concept photos came out at 12 so technically it came out today

#DISCLOSUREDAY is Steven Spielberg’s 4th centered film and the first Spielberg film I’ve seen in theaters since Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. (I might never see a truly Great Spielberg picture in theaters) The Cast on paper is perfect, John Williams orchestrating the score while Spielberg directs the shit out of this film. David Koepp wrote the screenplay here and he is definitely the weakest part of this creation but it’s also on Spielberg because he should be able to see the faults here. The film leaves you wanting more and more and eventually it gives you what you want but takes it away just like that, it results in an underwhelming ending. The film is really well made, the framing and camera choices from Spielberg adds so much to what would be just simple scenes. Blunt, O’Connor, Domingo and Firth are all solid, at times the script lets them down but they do their best to salvage it. The Train sequence was great, but not a whole lot happens in the film other than that. I enjoyed the film for its intriguing storyline, the directing and especially Blunt’s performance but the ending was a big bummer. Definitely a good intriguing watch but I don’t think the film will have much rewatch value. Wanted to love it but just ended up liking it for about 90% of it. Did you see or plan on seeing Disclosure Day ? 👽🛸

So what makes a film personal? Do you have to write the script yourself to make the film yours, as the auteur theory claimed? Not necessarily. I think there’s kind of a twofold situation there. I think you have to make a distinction between the directors on one side and the filmmakers on the other. The directors—and they can excel at doing that—are people who only interpret the script, who just turn it from words into images. The filmmakers, however, will be able to take somebody else’s material and still manage to have a personal vision come through. They will shoot the film or direct actors in a manner that will eventually transform that film so that it becomes part of the body of work of their other films, with similar themes and approaches to material and characterization. That’s what makes the whole difference between, for instance, 'His Girl Friday' (1938) by Howard Hawks and 'Dream Wife' (1953) by Sidney Sheldon. Both are studio movies; both are comedies starring Cary Grant. And yet you can watch the first one repeatedly, whereas the second one, although pleasant, will not stand a second showing. And that’s also what makes the difference between a John Woo movie, which is always very personal, and, let’s say, the Batman sequels, which may be well crafted but could have been directed by anybody."
