My mother has always lived by one simple rule: show up, no matter what. When other kids pretended to be ill or exaggerated thier symptoms to escape school we knew that wouldn’t work with us as my Mother would take us to the hospital and then march us straight back to class the very same day. At 60 she casually decided to take up golf and now plays three times a week. At 83 she is still moving, still showing up, and still outworking people who claim to be “exhausted” by lunchtime. Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who taught me that greatness doesn’t start with talent or luck, it starts with showing up. And she has been doing it, magnificently, for 83 years. 💐
