It's hilarious unironically but holy hell this game REALLY makes sure no QTE has consequences I remember when Kingpin in the first game would absolutely wreck you if you fail the QTEs during his boss fight 💀

As a kid I would literally fail these on purpose just to make it more cinematic

I remember doing it alot in Web of Shadows and Resident Evil 4 & 5

you can fail literally all but the final one here and if you just do the big punch out you'll still get the win

True but atleast there is actual consequence and a game over for not pressing the button in the final part, instead of the game slowly freeze framing and patiently waiting for you to eventually press the button lol

Played SM2 earlier and there was that QTE where you’re about to zap Sandman at the end of the fight, I decided not to do anything, and scene just stopped, that’s when it hit me how underwhelming the lack of consequences are

Shenmue did all of this back in 1999 and 2001, and honestly, it did it a whole lot better than most modern games and no offense to the Insomniac Spider-Man games, but it pales in comparison to how Shenmue did QTEs.

I remember there’s a QTE at the end of the helicopter chase in the first game which if you fail innocent people gets killed by the copter blades and the mission is over. 💀

The QTE in the first game were amazing hard and fun. In the second game they are super easy and awful

The soyest move out of all gameplay mechanic tbh, if they think QTEs consequence is too punishing then don't even add it in the first place Or it'll end up in this confused 'challenge but don't challenge' situation

We really need to bring back QTE having consequences so people can lock the fuck in or get a good laugh as well for failing.

SM2 defender here, HOWEVER, one of the nitpicks I do have about the game, is the lack of QTEs. I dunno, when I have to stop a moving car at a crime, it just, happening, rather than me having to mash square? I dunno, certain things just don't feel earned

I'd prefer the instant fails of classic RE4. The slow mo here is just God awful. I can see it working for maybe one or two instances but every single one? All I see is the netflix message. "Are you still watching?"
