It’s horrific #MaternityLeave

Canadian 🇨🇦 I gave birth to my son in 1987. I got 4 months maternity leave. 1 month prior to due date+3 after. I quit my job. Shortly after that we got a full year maternity leave. America. You have so much to learn. Republicans are pro life only until the baby is born.

1/2 of our country is ALLLLL about pro-life movements, until the kid is born. Then it’s all about how they can maximize their profits off the mother and the child. Capitalism is sick. We SHOULD do better.

We tried! Taking care of families would have been one of Kamala's first initiatives.

She needs to tell her dr she has postpartum so he can legally get more maternity leave. It’s disgusting how women are treated in this country.

Our country does this on purpose to force women out of the corporate world... actual first world countries have robust maternity programs.

We have a year PAID in Canada 🇨🇦

Maternity leave is garbage here. They want to force women to have babies and then they won’t help people who need financial support, they give them 2 weeks and you need to back to work and no help for daycare. Meanwhile our tax money is being sent to other countries who have all those things.😵💫

I am constantly stunned by just how badly American citizens are treated. In the UK both Maternity and Paternity leave and pay is available. I took 13 months off for each of my 2 kids and returned to the same job, which was fully protected in my absence.

By the way, this new mother clearly has postpartum hyperpigmentation under her eyes. This is caused by stress hormones and lack of sleep and is very common. It’s another indication that maternity leave is important for quality of life for mom and baby

Just heartbreaking 💔 In Europe months of paid leave starting before the baby’s born for mom, varied paid leave for dad, and zero charge to give birth.

My kids were born in 89,91 and 94. I quit my job to stay home. Hubby worked. We sacrificed so much. One car. Bus to work for hubby. Date nights were a six pack and a video. We scrimped and sacrificed but we did it. I know it’s harder now. I couldn’t do it.

But this is the world feminists wanted. She’s soooo empowered now!

I'd like to know if she voted for Trump and is whining about this, or if she tried to vote for someone who actually cares about healthcare and quality of life instead of corporations and war.

This is so wrong. It’s insane to keep penalising motherhood then asking women why aren’t they having children 🤬

One year, paid in Canada. 18 months of job protection. You guys fight for gun rights, now fight for mom rights!

My daughter and daughter in-law were lucky to have me when they went back to work. I happily went to their home every day to take care of my grand babies. They appreciated it and I got to love on those babies 5 days a week. I’d do it again

You can hate on the USA. We’re the only country with little or no maternity leave. Tell me why this country is great

Luckily our family stepped in for daycare because I had to go back 6 1/2 weeks after I had twins via C-section since I’d been out for medical reasons plus high risk for 6 months while pregnant.

I got 6 weeks with a baby & broken foot .. told to get back to work !

This is how I ended up leaving my career as a banker. One morning I looked at my 3 week old and came to terms with the fact that I just couldn't hand her care over to strangers. Hardest decision I ever had to make 😔

In Sweden we have paid parental leave. Mom and dad can share the leave. 480 days per child (660 days for twins) You get 80% of your salary. The dad also gets 5 days at home (fully paid) after the mother comes home immediately after giving birth to be with the child.

I gave up any advancement by not going back to floor duty. I never wanted to leave my babies. We rented, never took vacations, had one car that eventually rusted out and going out for Pizza Hut was a treat. It s worth it

@RiWheels It’s very sad. But we don’t care about mothers in America. I’m sorry to even have to say that.

I had to quit working when I had my babies. I wasn't with their father so I had to go on welfare. Which I did for a few years but when they turned 3 they were able to start preschool. My heart breaks for these moms that can't be with their babies.

Wow...that sucks. Who'd she vote for?

I cried! This is the reason I stayed home after having my baby. Even at one I cried after visiting day cares. Women should be allowed to stay home until their babies are in preschool. It’s incredibly tough financially but I’d give anything to my children.

I hope it works out for you. They shld model the Canadian profs moms and even dad can take time off - sure numbers are involved but they can get up to a year….

Let’s add dads in there too 👍🏻

Be grateful you get 8 weeks , some don’t get any paid time off . I had 6 weeks with my first in 94 - then the laws changed and I none with second in 2011 .

And some people wonder why women in this country don't want to have babies...

This country loves embryos, not babies.

My friend in Trinidad had 18 months of maternity leave with 70 or 80% pay. It sucks.

This is a shithole country

Duh! Can’t believe Americans put up with this shit. So thankful for my paid 18 month mat leaves. Girl, move!!

Unless you live in a state that has PFMLA you are going to go thru this. It’s insane that this country does not mandate 6 months after birth for moms AND dads
