We all know what “strengthen regulations” really means: state censorship. They’re desperate to muzzle the one platform that relentlessly exposes their lies, U-turns, and policy failures in real time. Just days ago, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy quit X entirely, taking her whole department with her, while slamming it as a far-right misinformation network that now favours abuse over debate and isn’t healthy for democracy. Every social media platform has ugly corners. That’s the unavoidable price of genuine free speech in an open society. We already have robust laws against incitement to violence, direct threats, and defamation. What Labour wants isn’t safety; it’s control. They can’t compete in the marketplace of ideas, so they’re trying to shut the marketplace down. Free speech isn’t negotiable!
