"It's interesting to hear the media talking about this breathlessly for hours and hours. When Biden or Obama had drone strikes, the only thing that needed to happen was John Kirby to go on TV and say, 'We made a mistake. We're learning from it.' And nobody batted an eye."

DOOCY TIME: “John, has President Biden considered maybe beefing up the public Iran posture to be more than just one word?” WH’s John Kirby: “You — you’re referring to, ‘don't’?” Doocy: “Yeah.” Kirby: “And so, let's —” Doocy: “Because he said —” Kirby: “— talk about —” Doocy: “— ‘don’t’ and they did it anyway.” Kirby: “— and let's talk about —” Doocy: “So, now what?” Kirby: — what we did. Peter. Let's talk about ‘don’t’ and did. Let's talk about Saturday night. He made it clear that he didn't want to see escalation in the region.” Doocy: “And yet, there was.” Kirby: “Eh, let me finish. He added military resources to the region right after October 7 and then, when we had an inkling that this kind of thing was coming, he added even more military resources to the region, more destroyers that were capable of shooting down ballistic missiles, fighters — fighter squadron that was able to shoot down drones and that's what we did. So, you can talk about the ‘don't’ word all you want, but let's talk about what did happen. And what did happen was Iran utterly failed. And if I'm sitting in Tehran right now, I'm betting that President Biden takes it pretty seriously. When he says, ‘don't’ escalate, he’s going to act to make sure that you can, and they didn't. Yes, they fired an unprecedented amount of munitions, but how much of a success that they have, Peter? None. Zero. Very little infrastructure. It was an embarrassing failure for the Supreme Leader for the IRGC.”

Kevin Costner said he didn’t want to speak publicly after Whitney Houston died because he felt their relationship was “just a movie.” Kevin Costner: What happened was, it was a thing I didn't want to do. When Whitney passed, the microphone was going around for a, for a week, that everybody getting on TV talking about her. And I'm thinking, "Jesus, the last thing I want to do is get on a radio and talk about her." Uh, after all, it was just a movie really. And, but there was this weird thing that I didn't take into consideration. I think sometimes, maybe you and I can miss what the real momentum is, that we don't really gauge it because we either intellectually dismiss it or we just don't care, but people wanted to hear what I had to say about her, which baffled me. It was a, it was a make-believe relationship we had. And so I avoided it.

Anish Acharya: We're going to see a "YouTube moment for software": "If you think about YouTube 20 years ago—we had lots of video and lots of television, and it was high production quality, and it wasn't clear that we needed more and 20 years later, YouTube's a $550 billion enterprise that would be one of the biggest companies in the world if it was independent." "I think the same thing is going to happen for software. People want to make software, and for the first time they can—and they can distribute it and they can consume it." "Sometimes it's going to be important software. Sometimes it's going to be totally trivial. It's going to be software for a bachelor party weekend, software for a joke, software for a prompt. We have this sort of seriousness about software that we had about video and television 20 years ago." "Now it's like—I just took a video on my phone. It's going to be like—I just made an app on my phone. Same energy." Anish Acharya on BILLIONS with Guillaume Moubeche

Matt Damon said some canceled people would have preferred an 18-month prison sentence because it has a clear end date. Joe Rogan: What we're talking about earlier about people that have been canceled, you know? That, that, this idea that one thing you said or one thing you did, and now we're going to exaggerate that to the fullest extent and cast you out of civilization. Matt Damon: In perpetuity, yeah. Joe Rogan: It's fucking crazy and it's... Matt Damon: Yeah, I would say because, because I bet some of those people would have preferred to go to jail for 18 months or whatever to, and, and then come out and say, "No, but I, that, that we can't... I, I paid my debt, like we're done." Yeah, like can we be done? Like, the, the thing about, about that, you know, getting kind of excoriated publicly like that, it's, it just never ends. And it's, and it's the first thing that, you know, it's just, it just will follow you to the grave, I think.

.Dan Shipper: "The AI jobpocalypse is not a thing. The mass unemployment thing that AI lab CEOs are talking about—that's not going to happen. AI models make yesterday's human competence cheap. But what's interesting is that since everyone's using the same models, it all looks the same. So it becomes commoditized. It's not valuable anymore. And what humans do is we go in there, and we're like, yeah, we have all this frozen human competence from yesterday, how do I use this to make something new and interesting, today?"

Daniel Suarez had quite a bit to say about the criticism of Spire Motorsports as an "unserious" organization today. More than anything he's frustrated with the narrative and the distraction it's created. "That's the only part of that that upsets me a little bit. Here we are, we're talking about this - We shouldn't be talking about this. We should be talking about the Chase, how we're gonna be better, and it's a distraction. "That's the only part that upsets me a little bit. It creates a narrative that's a distraction." Daniel said it's fine that Carson Hocevar has his personality just as Spire's other drivers do and they have to be authentic, but they don't want it to affect the reputation or integrity of the team or create distractions within it. Daniel mentioned that he wanted to join Spire last year because he knows what it takes to be successful and he saw that within their team. "We just have to continue to focus on the right things and continue to move forward."

"You know, yesterday's news was surprising and it's hard for you to hear, but it was the right thing to do." "But, you know, you're an amazing team... I think we made the right decision."

🚨 TUCKER: "Rogan created the genre of podcasting. Rogan used to be a sitcom actor, a standup comedian, and an MMA fighter. Then he creates this thing called a podcast where he talks for 3 hours? I thought it was dumb. Who is going to listen to an MMA fighter talk for 3 hours? He completely changed not only American media but American history. Rogan proved that Americans really want to learn. He's willing to just sit there with interesting people and talk for 3 hours. I'm thrilled and proud to be Rogan's friend."

We're incredibly proud of what we created with our Titled Tuesday broadcasts, but unfortunately we will not continue after Split 3 is done. Here's a bit of context. "What shocked me the most was when Danny joined the Dina podcast, where Dina asked him about this partnership, and he said that we're only doing Titled Tuesday with Take Take Take because we paid them a big check." "We are covering the prize fund. So we are paying the prize money for the players. The thing that shocked me was that, yes, it's factually true that we are paying the prize fund and covering that expense for Chesscom, but we had a shared ambition. And it was very clear to me in that interview that this ambition is only for Take Take Take." "That was devastating for me and for the team to hear, for our partner in this project not to have the same vision and alignment and talking about how big Titled Tuesday can become."

December 16, 2016. Obama does an hour long interview with NPR. The entire interview is stunning for a few reasons. 1. Almost everything Obama says is in direct contradiction to the intelligence report on the election that he had just recently received. The majority of this interview was spent discussing Russia's election interference to help Trump. We now know that Obama had just received a report informing him that did not happen. 2. It was extremely obvious throughout the entire interview that Obama was lying and that he knew the significance of what he was doing. 3. Obama finished the interview, left and returned to talk about a new "Intelligence Assessment" that would be dropping before Trump's inauguration. He was priming the media to be on the look out for the bogus report he had just asked for. It's impossible to overstate the magnitude of what Obama was doing during this interview. And of course he turned to NPR to help him do his dirty work.
