"It's not right. He's taking license fee payers money. And he knew what he'd done and he should return it now." BBC bosses say Huw Edwards is refusing to hand back more than £200,000 salary he earned after being arrested in November on child abuse image charges.

@AvaSantina I think the correct wording is politely declining to hand back his salary & has no legal obligation to do so I think he should but I don't blame him for not doing it - I blame whoever drew up the contract between the BBC & Edwards, they should have put a clause in his contract

The BBC chose to keep paying him. So I suppose he has chosen to keep the cash. If they were not wrongfully (forget about morality) paid, it is hard to see how the BBC can get the money back.

The BBC directors should be sued personally for its return, they stupidly carried on paying him

@AvaSantina That money could be used to reinstate a full local service in the bbc regions instead of this patched up half national output rubbish

The question must be, what was/is he contractually entitled to receive?

He is a rat 🐀 but that’s on BBC not moving faster. Suspended without pay would have been appropriate till it was resolved

Not my money. Keep sponsoring pedos people. Congratulations.

Forgive me but we are expecting a man who has charges against him of having indecent images of children to behave morally?

Morals and legal contracts aren't one in the same thing Unfortunately. I'm expecting a similar outcome from a lot of the Covid contracts.
