Costco was the first to sue over tariffs because they were losing money. We all know they passed the increase off to consumers , took the lawsuit settlement money and never reduced prices. This is why I cancelled my @Costco membership

Water, sodium phosphate and salt is what they inject your beef with to increase the weight before dropping it on the shelves. When a ribeye says 8 lbs, 12% of that is solution. Americans are being scammed!

Yes when you can buy organic, grass fed, grass finished beef at local farms for close to the store price, then folks there is a problem.

Finally. Families shouldn’t need a second mortgage to buy hamburger. Trump’s DOJ is actually looking at the whole chain instead of just giving speeches. Even shorter Grocery giants next. Beef prices aren’t a mystery — they’re a priority. About time.

@LizSevier It’s not the grocery stores 🤦‍♂️🤣 WtF is wrong with this government covering up the most obvious issues here and that’s big Ag! They have a stranglehold on the meat industry the big 4 are the problem not the last part is the distribution chain. Drop diesel fuel cost first!

@CzebotarJessie Publix is bad about their scale weight being off by almost a 1/4 pnd. 3 different stores I went to on separate occasions and when I got home and weighed my steaks ( NY stip and Robeye) they were off. They're ripping us off in more ways than one!!!

Put them all under a microscope. You'd be surprised at how much "inflation" is really just companies price gouging us.

The investigation is focused on the entire distribution channel from farmer to consumer. They are going to be shocked by what they find.

@JessicaTarlov Trump’s systematically eliminating your moronic talking points one by one. First gas CEO’s, now beef monopolies…. Your “affordability” argument is getting torched 🔥

We purchase a half cow every year from a local ranch. If you can, that’s the way to go! Support local farmers, AND you know the quality of the product you’re purchasing.

Walmart has not lowered any prices in beef as of yesterday, I've been checking since President Trump told them to lower prices, they just raised the price of boneless chicken thighs.

If beef prices are being driven by anti competitive behavior, consumers deserve answers. Competition should mean better prices and a fairer market.

Now do the gas stations! One simple story of Iran doing something they should not, the price of gas almost instantly goes up. But share news like the oil resource in Venezuela that is made available to the U.S. and we get crickets. No drop in prices. There are absolutely more companies and industries that take advantage with their power and gouge the American citizens. In Florida we had to come up with laws against price gouging associated with hurricanes. Greed is a real thing! The love of money is the root of all evil!

Donald Trump raises tarrifs on American companies. Like all private companies do, they pass that cost on to the consumer. Now Trump goes completely socialist and tells these companies they are charging too much for their product. This is as anti-free market as Trump putting tarrifs on in the first place. this is retard economics.

So Trump is going after private companies to convince us it’s them who caused high prices?? We know it was Trump, his disaster of a war and tariffs that caused the high prices.

They need to look into beef suppliers as well. In my area, ipb and national beef are the two major suppliers.

Investigating Walmart, Costco, and Amazon for expensive beef is wild when half the country already knows the packers and feedlots got squeezed first. Grocers are the easy headline. The real markup is further up the chain.

Today at Publix in FL, a 12pk Coke is $11.25. You can go to Target and buy it for $7.79. It’s not just beef. Paying these prices and having to self checkout.

Are the four major packers being investigated too?

Undercover at CattleCon: Ranchers & Insiders Expose How Tyson, JBS, Cargill, & National Beef Secretly Control America's Beef Market. The OMG team did a deep dive, going undercover at CattleCon 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee. We spoke with beef industry insiders and ranchers about the top four companies, Tyson, JBS, Cargill, and National Beef, which dominate U.S. beef processing. These four companies process the majority of U.S. beef. Over time, dozens of smaller processors merged into four major companies now known as the “Big Four.” “They [Big Four] are buying like all the companies in the United States… so they don’t have competition.” “They [Big Four] can knock you out of this industry in two seconds.” “They [Big Four] closed all the markets — all the markets are theirs in Brazil and now in the U.S.” In November 2025, President Trump tweeted that cattle prices were falling while boxed beef prices kept rising, calling it “fishy.” With the Department of Justice urging action over possible price manipulation by major meatpackers, we decided to investigate and do something about it. Our team spoke directly with ranchers and industry partners, documenting firsthand how the “Big Four” dominate the market and impact pricing. As beef prices climb, many cattle producers say they have little influence over the prices they receive, raising questions about how costs are set from the ranch to the store shelf. The Department of Justice has looked into whether the biggest beef companies have too much control over the industry and whether they worked together to raise prices. The “Big Four” companies deny any wrongdoing, insisting that prices are driven solely by supply and demand. Tyson, JBS, Cargill, and National Beef control most of the U.S. beef industry, raising serious questions about who really sets the price. So when you see higher prices at the grocery store, it’s worth asking why. This may explain why your steak keeps costing more.
