Bessent is the greatest Sec'y of Treasury!!! President Trump has selected the absolute perfect Cabinet whose members outshine ALL their predecessors.

Why aren’t employers getting in trouble.. seems more than half of the Amazon deliveries are made by people that don’t speak English so how many are here illegally!??

About time. If you’re here illegal, the government shouldn’t be cutting you checks. Make them want to leave.

Treasury Sec. Bessent is requiring citizenship status on IRS forms. Long overdue. If you're here illegally and filing taxes, the government is about to know exactly who you are. -HG

The question is simple: what happens to that information after the IRS gets it?

@Stat_Woman Anything that can help

If the goal is catching fraud, the form needs clear rules and careful handling—bureaucracy rarely misses a chance to create three new forms.

The IRS adding a citizenship box means undocumented immigrants are about to experience the ultimate American tradition: getting audited by Uncle Sam

Nice post, thanks. Always enjoy how practical you make it. You and @meghaan_s are who I follow most.

They’ll be sued by some left - wing judge and that judge will overturn this. You watch.

The drafts are not final: the IRS marks them “do not file,” and they remain subject to revision and OMB review before the 2027 filing season.

End the IRs

The administration has proposed adding a citizenship/work-authorization question to the 2026 Form 1040, saying the goal is to prevent people who are ineligible from receiving refundable tax credits and potentially save taxpayers up to $2 billion. This is a long-overdue transparency measure. Taxpayers should be able to trust that federal benefits are going only to those who legally qualify. Requiring citizenship or work-authorization status on IRS forms could give the government another tool to verify eligibility, reduce improper payments, and strengthen accountability. Enforce the law fairly, protect taxpayer dollars, and make the system work for those who follow the rules.If you want, I can make it , sharper, or more America First.

The IRS already has extensive information on taxpayers. Now the administration wants immigration and work-authorization status explicitly disclosed on the tax return. That could become a significant immigration-enforcement tool, but the proposal still has to be finalized.

@orbeekins Ok. But taxation is still theft. And illegals will lie.

@clif_high Yesssssssss!!!!!

It’s unbelievable that citizenship status wasn’t required on IRS forms before.

It’s about time!!!
