Glad he course corrected before he lost his son permanently from his life. Them damn traditional expectations be costing people relationships with loved ones if not set aside sometimes.

When my beloved uncle came out at 58, he was shocked that nothing changed we loved him as much as always. He said he didn’t come out sooner because of his mom who I said hell she was more open then you guys she bought me my first pair of combat boots. ❤️‍🩹❤️❤️

One of the most moving stories I've ever read was this account from 2012 of a Baptist family realizing too late that their religious beliefs had kept them from fully loving and being there for their son. Just gutting how it plays out.

That hits on many levels.

Awww, thems some therapy words. Good man for fighting the homophobia demons.

I come away from that with a lot of empathy. The old guy is clearly a product of his generation, which is sad. At least he accepted his son and is involved with the grandchildren, but if he still wonders why his son the lawyer didn't come out sooner, that attitude is why.

Appreciate his self reflection.
