Great analogy but we need to be careful that we do not think as if SA is not a democracy with an open society. We are not just not thinking about how to avoid the cliff, we are active participants in driving ourselves in that direction. We are doing it to ourselves.

Interesting analogy. Pls expand on this point. It’s not just the ANC & opposition parties but our democracy is being eroded. Democratic institutions are driven off the cliff: the judiciary, NPA, PP, Parliament… Then the new era of coalitions that are crippling local government..
