It's simple. States should run their own elections as it says in the Constitution. Women shouldn't have to purchase a passport to vote because their birth certificate doesn't have their married name on it. No one should have to do that.

We all agree that only citizens should vote which is why it has been illegal for non citizens to vote in federal elections for decades. The problem is that the SAVE America Act creates unnecessary hurdles for millions of eligible American citizens, like seniors and military families, who may not have easy access to a birth certificate or passport. We should be focused on making it easier for all legal Americans to vote, not creating partisan barriers for a problem that doesn't exist.

This isn’t a tweak to election law. It’s a last-minute rewrite of who gets to participate in our democracy. Let’s be clear: citizenship is already a legal requirement for voting in federal elections. Non-citizen voting is illegal and extremely rare. But rather than improve the system, this bill weaponizes that fact to create a new barrier between citizens and the ballot box. For most of us, registering to vote means checking a box that says “yes, I am a U.S. citizen” under penalty of perjury. The SAVE America Act in its current form would flip that script — every eligible voter must physically produce documentary proof of citizenship in person. Elections don't matter when you don't enforce the laws.

It's simple, they already do. You are disenfranchising whole segments of Americans, creating a poll tax because we have to buy new IDs, and making it tougher for married women to vote. There's nothing wrong with the voter IDs we already use each and every election for decades.

We had free and fair elections in 2020. And where did that get us? Trump didn’t like the outcome, so this is how he did our country.
