It's so cool that this even plays.

I tried my hacked VCR. You can see it recovers MUCH more data, but this tape is so degraded it wobbles & has no idea how to make sense of it. That's why I always rip three tapes as the same time. One to my DVD recorder, one digital, & one to VHSdecode. Lost media needs redundancy

For those who are wondering about the poor quality of the video, it's most likely because the antenna was not tuned correctly to the station. Television Antennas had to be adjusted just right to a TV station to get a good picture from it.

am I crazy or is the audio pretty solid? is this 'regular' playback or vhsdecode?

Stock animation like this is a lost art with every show only being 12 fucking episodes anymore.

I have tapes that are 30 years old. They work fine. Some are very important things that were lost by companies.

Old vhs has better audio quality than most international dubs.

I have japanese VHS tapes from the nineties recorded in LP on the NHK but I see them in black and white on my tv. If they are in SP, they are in color, it's all fine. Is anyone having this problem too?

The fuzzy grain effect makes it seem much older than it is. I kinda like it if I'm honest, its like an old world charm.

Can we appreciate that despite the grain the colors look gorgeous?

My tapes of Doctor Who from WOUC 44 Cambridge (Ohio University PBS) was grainy like this but recorded in EP kind of smoothed it out on our 2 head Sharp HQ VCR. This is where AI processing could clear up the image if it could make the right guesses. But people get touchy on that.

Is this really VHS deterioration or just a bad broadcast signal recording?
