As someone who’s been to Arizona in the summer (Phoenix to be exact) YES, it IS that hot and things like garbage cans do melt if left out in the sunlight and in cars, including handheld video game consoles like Nintendo DSes… (learned the hard way, battery was toast)

For the pool side stones maybe a water container midway could help a little plus it double as a foot rinse before getting in. Otherwise when I was younger we had these kind of bamboo rugs to put under beach towels maybe it would mitigate the heat a little bit.
