The Ostrich Farm Mattered Calling it a roast does not excuse it. Leadership is not about landing laughs in a room full of power. It is about judgment, empathy, and understanding the weight of decisions. The loss was real. The joke made it symbolic.l…And what it symbolized was distance from consequences. That is not humor. That is a failure of leadership.

I still laugh when I think about his cold open. It captured his wit perfectly and was a reminder that, even in the midst of serious fights, he never lost his sense of humor.
