Imagine my surprise when I went to see them right after he left the band and they came out and said, “yeah we’re not playing any of the songs off the record and he’s no longer a part of band.” it was still a great show though

They played in Nashville like an hour from me before I left the mainland. Tickets sold out immediately. But it prob wont happen again so I had to.

He added when he could, but he certainly didn’t take anything away even though he might not have had the role that he wanted all the time. I certainly respect that about him and appreciate that. Today, I was invited to Umm al-Khair to take part in the commemoration marking one year since the killing of peace activist Awdah Hathaleen. I was also given one of the greatest honors of my life: inaugurating the library established in his name and memory. If Awdah were alive, I’m sure he would still be standing with his people here in Umm al-Khair, with patience and infinite hope. He would probably be holding his three little children in his arms. He would still be smiling, and we would probably be dancing with him, even though the occupation tried to take that away from us. If Awdah were alive, this dark world would hold a little more light. But his light endures. He was, and always will be, a light for his family, for his community, and for our people, for the Palestinian people.
