There's a path forward for transgender rights. Mara Keisling, a senior fellow at Searchlight, has been a leading advocate for trans rights and acceptance for 30 years. She’s seen public opinion shift significantly over that time. Trans Americans today are able to live freer, fuller lives than they would have all those years ago. But the resurgence of anti-trans sentiment in civil society and government should concern all of us. Over the past year, Searchlight has surveyed the American public on the rights and acceptance of trans people. More than 34,000 across six rounds of polling. The results provide Mara and advocates like her with a path forward — starting with a renewed focus on equal treatment and civil rights. Banning discrimination and harassment of trans people in the workplace or housing. Keeping politicians out of deeply personal health care decisions. The loss of Roe was not only the loss of federally protected reproductive rights, but also medical privacy. This impacts everyone, even those who cheered for the loss of medical privacy rights. This is also why we are now seeing AGs threatening to prosecute women who travel to other states to access abortion and why the Biden administration had to create a new HIPAA rule to prevent gop states from accessing a woman's medical records who travel to another state for an abortion. Reproductive rights should be federally protected. Medical privacy should be federally protected. People are not the property of the state they live in.

The new EHRC guidance on how to ensure equal rights of all to access basic services falls short of being inclusive or workable in the real world - I will continue to work with other MPs who recognise this to navigate how we change that. Given how toxic discussion of trans rights has become am not going to respond to comments here because doubt will help anyone. Posting this video so residents in Walthamstow know of my concerns and actions. Also want to flag to any Walthamstow resident who wants to talk my next open public forum for political debate is on Thursday 28th May at 7pm and all welcome - email my office to rsvp for venue details.

The Left has argued for Bot rights for 10 years. (See next post in thread). The 28th should define a human as having a biological heart born to human parents, ensuring God given rights that are protected by the constitution are reserved for humans only.
