Couldn't disagree more. You can barbecue barbecue on a barbecue at a backyard barbecue. On a single patch of grass, football players walk off what they call the field while soccer players walk onto what they call the pitch. Both are correct. Don't homogenize language!

A girl invited me over to her families 7/4 BBQ. It started at 4. I showed up at 415 and these people were sitting down at the kitchen table waiting for me. This food was consumed with fork and knife on fine China. Absolutely nothing about that is a a BBQ.
