So true. White ball cricket has become meaningless. As a cricket nut, I now disregard it. It’s tests and tests only that have meaning.

Used to follow every England game or competition. Didn’t even realise the BBL started or England had a game last night. And having 2 squads going to different countries at the same time is so unnecessary and bad for a travelling fan now having to visit 2 different places!!

Lets get real. In 2023 England played 25 ODIs, 12 T20s, 8 Tests. If an England player played in every match (unlikely) that would be 77 days of cricket in a year. And that was actually only 72 days due to rain/test results.

Agreed, I haven’t been interested at all in this series in the West Indies, because there’s nothing riding on it, but with test cricket there is a lot riding on each game since it leads to the world test championship final

When your team is losing and hammered everyone goes crazy it's too much.. Aus and India played most cricket in 2023 and both teams played test championship final, worldcup also t20 Worldcup semifinal.. nothing is too much just make your team right

Correct. “Avaricious capitalism, by its very nature, encourages consumption and exponential growth. But is everything ‘bigger and better’ for it? It would appear that this neo-liberal approach has reached a point … where [sport] may only consume itself”.

Agreed. Far too many formats. Far too many games & competitions. Nothing to look forward to. It’ll all be forgotten in a week. If not less

It's a good point. I remember after the Ashes that I wasn't very keen on ODI cricket being latched on...it felt like it was an after thought and that Ireland series was a joke.

100% this... i would class myself as interested cricket fan, but it becomes background noise and prevents deeper engagement. No surprise the Ashes cycle still stands out ... understandable proposition. Not just fans, I think sponsors must question what they get for their money
