I can attest to that. This lil' guy won't leave me alone lmfao He was a mostly feral kitten when we first got him, and ferals generally bond much more differently to humans than kittens who were socialized from birth will. They are way more selective on who they will trust, and those that they do trust get *ALL* of the affection. If they don't trust you initially as well, it takes a lot longer to be able to gain a feral cat's trust, even when socialized... as my mum learned with him not wanting anything to do with her for the first few months post adoption lmao

My cat fluffy when he was a kitten. I was the first to pet him and I guess I showed him that I wasn’t some evil monster out to get him. Now he cuddles up near me every night and will come in my room and hop on my lap for pets and cuddles.

That’s how I speak to the community cats that I feed in the yard. Almost a whisper. Some of them I gave names and they seem to know it. Of course it’s within the confines of food and feeding. A feral black cat, yuge muscular guy, used to be mean and claws any other cat that comes near him. He clawed me too. But after a few weeks and months of eating here with the rest of the community cats, he changed. A lot! His name is Ferrell like Will Ferrell. We do communicate a bit different compared to other cats. This cat doesn’t even meow. But when he first came here, it was an angry sounding like ready to attack kind of vocal. I got scared. He might jump on me and attack. But I later found out that he just wants another serving of food. So I gave him some more dry food. From that time i kept an eye on him during feeding time. And usually he would look at me when he wants more food. And whenever I serve him food, I would say his name softly Ferrell, Ferrell, Ferrell. He would smell my hand along with the scoop of dry food. I always test him by calling his name and he responds by looking at me. But he is still a feral cat and he has some rules. I never see him attack other cats. I saw him have a fight with another unfamilliar cat. But not with the ones eating here.

Our rescue bonded with me from the moment I took her in my arms to check her over, she rolled on her back wrapped her little paws around my hand with a soft meow and started purring saying your mine now

Every time I adopted a cat, I went to the shelter and talked to and held (if possible) as many cats as I could and I always picked the one that liked me the best. I figured it was THEIR choice, not mine.

The stare at you thing: My first cat would stare at me for hours as I read or watched TV. My GF said once "That cat loves you" and I said I know and she said "No I mean she LOVES you" and I laughed and explained how the cat figured I was her savior from when she was homeless.

I understood why only cats always see the compatibility in me which the other humans don't. For me & cats all it matters is quiet consistency, No force, respect and trust ✌️

When I first took my cat home, she was crying the entire drive. About 10 min before we arrived, I took her out of her carrier and put her on my lap. She didn't run away or jump around crazy, she curled up on me and started purring. Now she does that every time she needs confort

You will have a stronger bond when you play with them. They have a hunting instinct they need to satisfy. Then after the hunt and they are tired, cuddle time. Lots of head bumps and nuzzles.
