It’s wild that the whole Shuttle-on-747 piggyback concept was first validated using a simple $40 balsa-wood RC model in the 1970s. NASA engineer John Kiker literally flew a homemade model in a park to prove the separation dynamics would work when everyone else was skeptical.

I cant believe I rigged all this just to end up using a Tshirt version of this model the whole year. I think I learned a very important lesson on overcomplicating designs, and I hope it will show in the new October model where the goal was to make something simple and effective

I was checking how the site for the Apple Vision Pro was made. Can confirm that this section was made with Three.js. They're using a pretty clever technique that breaks the Vision Pro model in segments using GLTFs and it's reassembled on the browser. Pretty darn cool.
