Destiny is nowhere near as bad as westerners whine it is. Mostly it just has some pacing issues and the overuse of flashbacks.

One of the best openings in Gundam history. And overall, I liked this cast of characters better than SEED. Destiny is better than most say. Some of the best philosophical dialogue outside of Wing. It's the last third of the series that prevents it from living up to its potential.

DESTINY started to broadcast after 1 year break (another animรฉ "Fullmetal Alchemist") since the end of SEED, so Sunrise needed a new protagonist Shin to refresh the show for newbies, just like how Judau succeeded Kamille (and how Kamille succeeded Amuro)
